An Education is the story of a teenage girl's coming-of-age set in 1961 London, a city caught between the drab, post-war 1950s and the glamorous, more liberated decade to come. Jenny (Carey Mulligan) stands on the brink of becoming a woman: a brilliantly witty and attractive 16-year-old whose suburban life is about to be blown apart by the utterly unsuitable 30-something David (Peter Sarsgaard). Urbane and witty, David manages to charm her conservative parents Jack (Alfred Molina) and Marjorie (Cara Seymour). David introduces Jenny to a glittering new world of classical concerts and late-night suppers with his attractive friend and business partner, Danny (Dominic Cooper) and Danny's girlfriend, the beautiful but vacuous Helen (Rosamund Pike). Just as Jenny's family's long-held dream of getting their brilliant daughter into Oxford seems within reach, Jenny is tempted by another kind of life.

Season 1, Episode 37
Gil Larkin (Robert Horton) is a quiet-spoken, sensitive and emotional young man. He is the piano accompanist for Mona Cameron (Cara Williams), a beautiful woman with whom he is secretly in love, but since she is married to a successful theatrical agent he feels he cannot reveal this love. During a rehearsal session, Mona lets Gil know that her husband has bruised her arm -- that she is afraid of him because for months he has been physically cruel and insanely possessive. Gil reveals his love for Mona and together they plan that Gil will go to her husband's office and talk to him about his giving Mona a divorce. But when Gil goes to visit Mona's husband something strange happens--a shot is fired and before Gil can figure out where the shot came from he is knocked unconscious. When he wakes up, he has a gun in his hand, and Mona Cameron's husband is dead.

Know anything about Pete and ...

Question: Know anything about Pete and Gladys? It starred Harry Morgan.

Answer: That I do — and since you don't know, Jack, I'm happy to fill you in. Mr. Morgan (M*A*S*H) first played the character, Pete Porter, on the CBS comedy December Bride, which ran from October 1954 to April 1961 and starred Spring Byington (Laramie) as a lovable mother-in-law living with her daughter (Frances Rafferty) and son-in-law (Dean Miller). Pete was the sarcastic neighbor who always came over to complain about his wife, Gladys, who was never actually seen. The griping worked — he proved such a hit with the audience that the network gave him his own show.

In September 1960, Pete and Gladys hit the airwaves with Cara Williams as the ditzy Gladys and, among others, Verna Felton as her friend Hilda and Gale Gordon ( read more
