The CW is moving forward with the Sex and the City prequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on the book series by Candace Bushnell, The Carrie Diaries follows Carrie Bradshaw as a high school senior in the 1980s. Both of the books have been best-sellers and Bushnell recently signed on to pen two more.

ABC is adapting Candace Bushnell's 2008 book "One Fifth Avenue," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, described as a Sex and the City meets The Good Wife, follows recently separated columnist Cassie Bingham who must re-enter her old Upper East Side life when she investigates a scandal in her building.

The Carrie Diaries, the young adult novel prequel to Candace Bushnell's Sex and the City, may be adapted at The CW by Gossip Girl executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Deadline reports. It's also likely that Amy Harris, who was a writer on the HBO series and currently writes for Gossip Girl, will handle the script adaptation.

The novels will be set during Carrie's high school years, and HarperCollins Chilrdren's Bray and Bray imprint will begin publishing in the fall of 2010. Bushnell said in a statement that she's "always been interested in exploring Carrie's teenage years, because she claims that's when Carrie "began observing and commenting on the social scene."The news comes a week before the DVD release of the feature-length Sex and the City movie based on HBO's series.
