We were promised more energy, more fun and more excitement for this year's Daytime Emmy Awards, and the event delivered. Opening with multiple, overlapping spoofs on daytime television, hosts Sherri Shepherd and Cameron Mathison set the tone from the start. With an all-new, banquet-style set-up and an open bar for the guests, the sweltering L.A. evening outdoors was left far behind for the cool festivities inside the Kodak theater. Backstage in the press room, TVGuide.com heard from the winners of each category, where the newly crowned Daytime Emmy recipients gushed about their new trophies.Tyra Banks was one of the first of the night to take home a win. For her acceptance speech, she took over the entire stage area with her team when they won for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative series, and she was no less outspoken when she arrived at the press room. TVGuide.com invited Cam to preview his latest gig, reflect on his Dancing past, and ponder the future of Pine Valley (Gillian's possible return included). Matt MitovichTVGuide.com: Are you trying to pull a Joey Fatone and be everywhere at once?Cameron Mathison: I'm trying! Joey, I think, is "pulling a Cameron Mathison." I had it going before he did.TVGuide.com: My wife and I watch What Not to Wear most every night, and TLC is promo-ing Your Place Or Mine? like crazy!Mathison: They're publicizing the heck out of it, yeah. Dancing with the Stars semifinalist Cameron Mathison (of All My Children) is offering some lucky lady private dance lessons, and then the opportunity to tango with his six-foot-something self at a soap star-studded Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS fundraiser to be held March 2 in NYC. The winner of the auction, opening Jan. 10 at (and benefitting) BroadwayCares.org, will be flown to New York "for a few days' rehearsals," Mathison tells the AP, "and I will teach them how to do a dance with myself" or something along those lines. As Cam adds with a wink, "My [Dancing] partner, Edyta Sliwinska, is going to be coming in and really be the one to teach us." A-ha! A clever variation on the evil twin switcheroo. Matt Webb Mitovich
