Check your TV's thermostat. If the temperature's rising to alarming new levels, boiling over with riotous politically incorrect humor and scorching the screen with personal drama that's as wrenching as it is raunchy, you must be watching Rescue Me (Wednesdays, 10 pm/ET on FX).
In its fourth season, FX's bravely unsparing tragicomedy about a twisted brotherhood of New York firefighters is more obsessed than ever with outmoded codes of manliness. These flawed, funny antiheroes bust each other's chops at any sign of vulnerability, but the joke is almost always on them.
Not that Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary), the crew's No. 1 jokester, is in a laughing mood. He's under investigation for insurance fraud after last season's climactic beach fire, set by psycho Sheila (Callie Thorne

While actor/comedian Denis Leary is familiar to many as a result of his years in the entertainment industry, the star and cocreator of FX's Rescue Me wants those who follow his work to also follow a cause that's equally close to his heart: his charity. To increase awareness of the Leary Firefighters Foundation, he held the Sixth Annual BASH for New York's Bravest fund-raiser this past Friday at New York City's famed Cipriani restaurant on Wall Street.
Leary suits up as FDNY Ladder 62 firefighter Tommy Gavin on FX's hit dramedy, but his passion for the work firefighters do extends far beyond his day job. He started his foundation in 2000 after his cousin, firefighter Jerry Lucey, and a childhood friend, Lt. Tommy Spencer, lost their lives in the line of duty while battling a blaze in the actor's hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts. In orde

Callie Thorne -- aka Rescue Me nutcase Sheila -- is joining Prison Break for a multi-episode arc, sources confirm. She'll play Pam, the estranged wife of William Fichtner's Mahone -- a role I first told you about in Ask Ausiello. Per my Prison mole, the character will be introduced in Episode 9 when Michael meets up with Pam in an attempt to uncover some dirt on his mad pursuer. (Hint: He finds some.) And in what marks a bit of a breakthrough for Thorne, Pam is not cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. That's right, Thorne is playing a character who's not crazy. Stop the presses! In other casting news, I'm told Krista Allen is joining ABC's retooled What About Brian for at least six episodes.

As FX gears up for the third season of its red-hot firefighter drama Rescue Me (premiering tonight at 10 pm/ET), count on Callie Thorne's Sheila to carouse and connive her way around the firehouse, causing a whole new set of problems for Denis Leary's Tommy. TVGuide.com chatted with Thorne to tease the new season (the first episode of which she had yet to see), find out what it's like hanging with the boys as well as guest stars Susan Sarandon and Marisa Tomei, and why she'd be willing to swing from

ERPoor Clemente. It was good that we got to see the scene where Callie Thorne's Jodie got shot by her soon-to-be-ex husband. Otherwise, I'd have been just as skeptical as Luka and the others and would've suspected the mysterious Clemente of foul play, mainly because we really don't know much about him. But now we know he really does love Jodie. Speaking of which, how about that hint of NYPD Blue-type nudity at the top of the show? We don't normally see a bit of butt crack on ER, but they've got to lure those viewers away from CBS somehow. You know I was saying "It's about time!" when Luka finally told Sam about him and Abby, but let's talk about how Sam went from "Oh, yes — everyone knows you two are together" to the utter shock on her face when he told her he and Abby were starting a fam
