Celebs Pay Their Respects to Patrick Swayze

In a testament to his wide-ranging career, tributes to Patrick Swayze poured in from all corners Monday: from former co-stars, younger actors inspired by his work, and even the New York Yankees.

"Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace," said Jennifer Grey of her Dirty Dancing co-star. "Gorgeous and strong, he was a real cowboy with a tender heart. He was fearless and insisted on always doing his own stunts, so it was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified."

The original "baby" in the corner went on to say, "When I think of him, I think of... read full article

I'm going to stump you. I ...

Question: I'm going to stump you. I remember a TV show in the early '80s with a young Kirk Cameron and another young actress who only used her first name. I think the show was about the everyday antics of a few families who live in a cul-de-sac. Do you know what show I am referring to?

Answer: Stump me? Surely you jest, Jackie.

Sounds to me like you're thinking of ABC's Two Marriages, which ran from August 1983 to the following April. It centered around two suburban Iowa families, the Daleys and the Armstrongs, and the contrast between their lives. (The Daleys were a more freewheeling outfit that included kids from previous marriages, while the Armstrongs were a more conventional operation.)

Cameron played young Eric Armstrong, while actress Louanne (full name: Louanne Sirota) was his sister. One big name from the past you failed to ment read more

24So here's the thing: For these handy-dandy Watercoolers we bring you every morning, we're supposed to shoot for something in the 250- to 300-word range... longer if it's a big event, shorter if it's a rerun, but you get the idea. Do you know how many words I have for this week's two-hour 24 extravaganza? Zero. That's right. Abso-frickin'-lutely speechless, kids. But I gotta start somewhere, and since my eyes are still all red and blotchy from the completely unexpected sobfest that was the final 60 seconds, well... nope, still not ready to talk about it. Let's think back to happier times, shall we? Say, back when Jack Bauer totally shot Henderson's missus in the leg to get the intel out of him? See, it was her fault, really, for uttering such a boneheaded line as read more

An Outsider Infiltrates 24's CTU

If C. Thomas Howell's recent MIA status frustrates those who've had to rely on the USA network to air such memorable '80s fare as The Outsiders, Red Dawn and Soul Man, fear not. The drought has ended. During tonight's two-hour 24 "event" (starting at 8 pm/ET), the former Greaser makes his first of a handful of appearances as Barry Landes, a therapist whose ties to Jack Bauer are, shall we say, "complicated." As a result of this casting coup, longtime fans can finally allow their obsession to continue into the 21st century. As TVGuide.com uncovered in our interview with Howell, there's a lot more to him than what all those "Stay gold, Pony!" lobbyists would like us to believe. For starters, he read more

Ray Wise Takes His "Shot" as 24's VP

Tonight's two-hour 24 "event" (beginning at 8 pm/ET on Fox) will host a parade of faces new and familiar, including Elisha Cuthbert's return as Jack's beleaguered daughter and the debut of C. Thomas Howell as Kim's (overdue, if you ask me) therapist. The evening also introduces us to Vice President Hal Gardner, who has been choicely cast with Ray Wise, a star of the Oscar-nominated Good Night, and Good Luck and who is familiar to TV fans as Twin Peaks' very bad dad, Leland Palmer. TVGuide.com welcomed the chance to ask Wise about his 24 VP, working with George Clooney read more
