Global sensation John Butler Trio returns with a new power trio and a new label (ATO!) for its first studio album in three years, April Uprising, a potent mixture of rock, hip hop, and reggae/dance hall dominated by Butler s incredible guitar playing and thoughtful, intelligent lyrics. The first single, One Way Road, is already climbing the Triple A charts and the accompanying video is set to premiere on VH1
Featuring new bandmates Nicky Bomba (drums and percussion) and Byron Luiters (bass), the newly revitalized JBT recorded the album at Butler s studio The Compound in Western Australia with long-time engineer Robin Mai. April Uprising captures the chemistry of the new trio, who found themselves with a whole new musical palette in the can playful and explosive, rhythmically complex and melodically immediate, charged with new purpose but more committed than ever to the principles of classic song craft.
