Our top moments of the week:
15. Tackiest Move: After Andy Dick's earnestly charming debut dance on Dancing with the Stars, Brooke Burke-Charvet bursts the positive-energy bubble in the room by abruptly and awkwardly asking Dick about being a recovering addict. "Is there a part of you that's concerned, considering that you're a recovering addict, of the pressure that the show puts on everyone?" she asks. "Uh, OK, so you went there," Dick replies, before...
After undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer last year, Brooke Burke-Charvet knows how important it is to take care of yourself, especially as you get older.
"The 40s are a reality check," Burke-Charvet, 41, told Health. "I would like to slow down my aging process, but I don't want to look like a pumpkin, all swollen! I don't want to fill every flaw in my face. A few?" she laughed.
After wrapping up another season of Dancing with the Stars just last week, co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet is gearing up to undergo surgery for thyroid cancer this....
Dancing With the Star: All Stars host Brooke Burke-Charvet entered the ballroom Monday night on Tom Bergeron's arm, then walked over to Carrie Ann Inaba, who was seated at the judges' table. As the studio audience clapped, the two exchanged a prolonged, wordless hug.
But after that, you would never have known that Burke-Charvet, 41, had revealed in a blog post last week that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and is facing life-saving surgery. There's no word yet on when and where the surgery will take place, but ABC confirms that she will continue to co-host the show through the finale, which airs the last week of November. Says one rep, "She'll probably release more videos, in her own time, to explain what's going on."
Backstage, the dancers said Burke-Charvet's diagnosis put their own struggles with injuries and the relentless demands of the show in perspective.
After sitting last week out on Dancing with the Stars because of a neck injury, Derek Hough is back and here to stay. "I feel good and my goal is to finish the season," he tells TVGuide.com "There are only a few weeks left and I'm going to try to finish strong." While he took a break, his BFF Mark Ballas stepped in to dance with Shawn Johnson, with whom Ballas won Season 8, and the three are back together again this week for their samba trio — which will bend, if not break, the rules. Why is Hough so intent on not playing by the book? Find out below. Plus: Is this his last season?
