Dear Diary: Britney's Deepest Thoughts Revealed

Britney Spears by John Sciulli/

Wait, these are her deepest thoughts? Wait, Britney thinks?! Sorta. On her website, she's reaching out to fans to "explain some of the things that I have been faced with recently," she writes. Among them: • Her post-breakup party spree: "I realized how much energy and love I had put into my past relationship when it was gone because I genuinely did not know what to do with myself.... I was so lost," says La Spears. Not that she sees anything wrong with her behavior. "I think it is actually normal for a young girl to go out after a huge divorce." I want to be sympathetic, I really do, but when you put "young girl" and "huge divorce" in the same sentence as "normal," I'm sorry, honey, ya lose me. • Her frienemies: "This letter is to not place blame on anyone," she insists, then places blame on her social circle. "I do see the world with a completely different set of eyes now. Being in that vulnerable state and taken to dinners and parties with friends and finding out later y... read more

Britney Spears: Fans' Prayers "Have Truly Helped Me"

In a missive to fans posted at her official website, Britney Spears writes: "The reason for this letter is to let everyone know that their prayers have truly helped me. I am so blessed that you care enough about me to be concerned, and will continue to live in this brighter state with all of you by my side during this trying time. We are all the lights of the world and we all need to continually inspire others and look to the higher power. You are all in my prayers.Godspeed.Love, Britney"At least that's what Extra e-mailed me. Britney Returns to Stage Under Sweet Pseudonym

The marquee promised "The M&Ms," but the performer on stage at the San Diego House of Blues — sporting a brown wig, sparkly pink bra top, belly ring, sh-sh-short white skirt and go-go boots — was a confection of a whole other kind. As rumored, Britney Spears commenced her musical comeback late Tuesday, lighting up the SoCal club with a five-song, barely 15-minute (and, by some accounts, entirely lip-synched) set kicked off by "Baby One More Time" (her debut single, natch). (See video at Tickets to enter the packed house ran upwards of $125 a pop, and Brit thanked the audience as she left the stage. "The M&Ms" are next set to candy-coat the HoBs in Anaheim (tonight) and West Hollywood (Thursday).UPDATED with video link. read more

Britney Bails on "Surprise" Comeback Show

Britney Spears — who as of late has been spied looking leaner and meaner (and with her nether regions covered up) — apparently had been quietly preparing to put on a surprise performance at the Los Angeles nightclub Forty Deuce, but wound up cancelling at the last minute. Sources tell that while Spears was itching to test the waters with a small-scale showcase, it was ultimately decided that the recent rehabber wasn't quite ready. The latest buzz is that she might instead turn up at a Southern California House of Blues sometime this week — or, if all else fails, at your neighborhood Japanese karaoke bar. read more

Will Britney Hook Up with Jessica Simpson's Pop?

Having recently jettisoned Larry Rudolph, the manager who strong-armed her into rehab, Britney Spears could next find herself under the guidance of Joe Simpson, dad to fellow blonde popsters Jessica and Ashlee. Sources tell the New York Daily News that Joe is hot to help salvage Brit's barely there career and even tried to confab with her this past weekend, and that Jessica is not only OK with the arrangement, but offered to dial Brit's digits on his behalf. (Alas, Jess got all hung up on the "Do I dial 1 plus area code?" thing.) read more

Dad Hits Britney, Baby, One More Time

Britney Spears by John Sciulli/

Britney Spears may have been steamed enough at manager Larry Rudolph to can his ass for forcing her into rehab, but her pop, Jamie Spears, has an entirely different take on the music-biz biggy. "When Larry talked Britney into going into rehab, he was doing what her mother, father and team of professionals with over 100 years of experience knew needed to be done," he's told the New York Post. "She was out of control. Larry was the one chosen by the team to roll up his sleeves and deliver the message, to help save her life. The Spears family would like to publicly apologize to Larry for our daughter's statements about him over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, she blames him and her family for where she is at today with her kids and career. Larry has always been there for Britney. For this, we will forever be grateful to him." In response, the hot mess told the paper through her rep, "I am praying for my father. We have never had a good relationship. It's sad that all the men that h... read more

Hollywood Duos: Good, Bad and Ugly

After a few days on vacation, away from the entertainment frenzy that envelopes me every day, I came back and quickly caught up on Hollywood's couple troubles, steady pairings and budding romances.Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams taking time apart? Madonna going off to Africa without Guy Ritchie in tow? Prince William single? What on earth is going on, people! OK, so we all know that our famous friends tend to hook up, move in, adopt dogs and have babies with each other faster than Simon Cowell can roll his eyes, but do the promising couples have to bite the dust, too? I, personally, am choosing to believe that the real-life Notebook lovers are totally and completely fine and a friend of a friend of a friend of a cousin just made it up to spoil all the fun.Other pairings that might be better off separate? Jessica Alba and Cash Warren are reportedly swimming in choppy waters, and Britney Spears fired her manager Larry Rudolph. Bravo, Brit! Now, prove us all wrong with a cute, short 'd... read more

Britney Cans Toxic Manager, Eyes Career Resurrection

Aspiring to salvage her once red-hot pop career, recent rehab grad Britney Spears has given her manager, Larry Rudolph, the heave-ho, blaming him for, among other things, introducing her to the hard-partying, no-pantying likes of Paris Hilton. The New York Post's Page Six also reports that Spears is heavily frequenting the recording studio and dance classes. But the barber? Not so much. read more

Britney and K-Fed's Love Shack Marked Down

Desperate to cut their last remaining monetary ties, Britney and Fed-Ex have slashed the asking price of their Malibu mansion by more than a million, TMZ reports. But trust me, folks, no matter what line of bull your Realtor tries to feed you, unless your surname is Trump, you still can't afford it.... Elsewhere in Splitsville, TMZ reports that although Whitney Houston entered divorce court Thursday all teary-eyed, she nearly died laughing when, as she exited, a paparazzo tripped and fell. "That's what happens!" she screamed when she wasn't praising the heavens. read more

No Clever Headline: Spears, K-Fed Settle Divorce

Following a five-hour meeting with attorneys present — during which you have to figure Brit at some point groused, "This is as long as rehab, y'all!" — Ms. Spears and estranged hubby Kevin Federline arrived at "a global settlement on all issues of their marriage and custody of their two children," a spokesperson for K-Fed tells the AP. While no details on the agreement were released, a source close to the talks tells Us that rumors of a $1 million settlement and a "50/50" custody agreement are "inaccurate." Though if K-Fed's itching for a mil, he may want to rifle through George Clooney's hard drive. read more
