It's Valentine's Day, and since Niles' new girlfriend Mel is leaving town for a medical conference, Niles agrees to go to the opera with Frasier. But when Mel cancels her trip, Niles dumps Frasier to be with her. Feeling blue about his non- existent love life, Frasier tells Roz about a pretty woman who always sits in an adjacent opera box, and she urges him to pursue her. Frasier drags Martin to the opera, and during the intermission, Frasier introduces himself to the woman, Emily, and her mother, Helen. While Frasier and Emily slip away for a glass of champagne, Helen invites Martin on a date. Not wanting to hurt her feelings, he leads Helen to believe he's refusing her offer because he's g ay. When Emily returns to Frasier's condo for a night cap, she brings her gay uncle, Edward, along to meet Martin . Martin keeps up the charade--until Edward asks him out. Panicking, Martin claims he's dating some one and convinces Niles to pose as his boyfriend so that Edward will back off. Feeling like a third wheel, Edward convinces Emily to leave, but since Frasier wants to spend more time with Emily, Niles pretends to break up with Martin, so that Martin can give Edward a lift home . watch

Sam's romance with Rebecca goes on the rocks when she's fired--and he's her replacement. After months of flirting, Sam convinces Rebecca to go out with him, but his plans for the big date go awry when Rebecca is fired and Sam is promoted to the manager position. When Sam discovers he can't manage the bar on his own, he convinces Mr. Stone to rehire Rebecca. Crafty Carla points out to Sam that Rebecca now owes him and saving her job may be just the leverage he needs to make it big with her. On their fateful date, however, Rebecca and Sam run into Mr. Stone, who spills the beans about the conditions under which Sam won her job back, including the fact that she must fill in as a waitress and report directly to Carla. Appalled, Rebecca walks out, planning never to return. As she's leaving, Woody intercepts a phone call informing Rebecca that her new car has arrived. Weighing her options, Ms. Howe decides to accept the deal Sam has cut for her and stay on at Cheers. watch
