Brad Pitt is speaking out for the first time since he was punched on the Maleficent red carpet last week.
"I was at the end of the line signing autographs, when out the corner of my eye I saw someone stage-diving over the barrier at me," he told People in a statement. "I took a step back; this guy had latched onto my lapels. I looked down and the nutter was trying to bury his face in my crotch, so I cracked him twice in the back of the head — not too hard — but enough to get his attention, because he did let go. I think he was then just grabbing for a hand hold because the guys were on him, and he reached up and caught my glasses."
Brad Pitt was attacked at the Hollywood premiere of Maleficent Wednesday by a man who has a history of assaulting celebrities on red carpets and during awards shows, CNN reports.
Pitt, 50, was signing autographs at the premiere when Vitalii Sediuk, 25, jumped over a barrier and hit him in the face, according to CNN. Sediuk, a Ukranian television host, was arrested on suspicion of battery.

Sunday marked Ellen DeGeneres' sophomore outing as host of the Academy Awards, and the typically tame comedienne offered up some jokes that were more barbed than usual during her opening monologue.

Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy is Marvel's first departure from its traditional comic book roster. Based on a popular franchise, the film's leads are a far cry from the clean-cut Golden Age Avengers. Most of them aren't even human.
