Who Will Play TV's Mr. & Mrs. Smith?

ABC has greenlit production on a pilot for Mr. & Mrs. Smith, an adaptation of the big-screen thriller that, in addition to its assorted cinematic merits, introduced a boy named Brad to a girl named Angie. Doug Liman and Simon Kinberg will reprise their roles as director and scribe. Set six months after where the film left off, with the Smiths now residing in a new house in a new suburb, Kinberg likens the TV version to "Married... with Children with guns," telling the Hollywood Reporter, "It is a show about any married couple trying to balance professional and home life." Eyed for a fall 2007 slot and set to shoot in March, casting on the pilot has yet to be determined. Good luck with that. Maybe the Today's News blog readers can help Mr. Liman out with casting, what do you say? Too bad Eric Dane is busy. (But Charisma Carpenter isn't!) read more

Some excerpts published in USA Today:Re: Brad: "He's somebody I admire based on the way he lives his life. And that's why I'm with him."Re: the onset of their on-set romance: "A few months [into filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith] I realized, god, I can't wait to get to work. Whether it was shooting a scene or... gun practice or dance class or doing stunts, anything we had to do with each other, we found a lot of joy in it."Re: Jennifer Aniston, Jolie says the two ladies have never had "a real sit-down-and-talk kind of meeting," and have only said hello in passing. The Jolie-Pitt Wedding Is (Waxed) Off!

Aww, what a handsome parafin they would have made, too. The Las Vegas Madame Tussauds nixed its plan to stage a wax depiction of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt tying the knot after a rep for the latter protested. "I personally found it a little off, re-creating a wedding that never really happened," Pitt's spokesperson tells the AP. "[It's] disturbing." The never-to-be-seen scene would have featured George Clooney as best man and Rev. Robert Schuller as officiant, with the likes (likenesses?) of Elvis, John Wayne and Frank Sinatra (surprising, seeing as Ol' Blue Eyes is said to have been Team Aniston) serving as witnesses. read more

Did Vanity Fair pull a fast one on Brad Pitt? Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy is at work on 4 oz., a drama that will follow the journey of a married sportswriter who is a transsexual. Sketching out the arc of the series, which he will exec-produce with Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner, Murphy tells Variety, "The first season deals with the revelation of his secret. In the second, he begins dressing like a woman. The third covers his surgery... and by the fourth, he's living as a woman and attempting to find love." The series' title comes from the average weight of the body part a fella must forfeit to become a female. (That's all my wallet weighs?) read more
