Fox has announced that "Idol Gives Back," the fund-raiser that in its inaugural edition generated $76 million for charity, this season will be broadcast Wednesday, April 9, from 8 to 10 pm/ET.Promising an event "bigger and more ambitious than ever," Fox thus far has lined up Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend and Snoop Dogg to participate. We’ve decided that when Bono puts his mind to something, good things happen. The result this time? U23D. The Irish rock stars have taken their God-like status to the next level by bringing their music not just to film, but to three dimensional film (complete with the glasses). So what are they calling this at their Sundance premiere? The first “live-action 3D concert documentary.” Quite frankly, giving everybody a “front row seat” is their best idea yet considering tickets tend to sell out in 3.2 minutes (not that we’re bitter we got shut out of their last tour or anything).
