Survivor's Quarterback Gets Sacked

Gary Hogeboom on Survivor

While most of us were stuffing our faces on Thanksgiving, Survivor: Guatemala's Gary Hogeboom was sitting at home with his family watching his torch get snuffed. The former NFL player — who lied throughout the game about his pro career by claiming he was Gary "Hawkins" — finally fell to the dominant alliance of remaining players. The 46-year-old called TVGuide.com after the holidays to discuss his rapid weight loss and why he decided to fib in the first place.

TVGuide.com: I was skeptical at first, but it seems that your strategy of lying about your background worked in getting you pretty far in the game.
Gary Hogeboom:
I had a game plan going in, and I wouldn't have changed it. I'm thinking that the read more

Survivor's Jamie Gets Blindsided

Jamie Newton

With little to no warning last week on Survivor: Guatemala, the dominant alliance decided against following their original plan to vote off Gary and instead voted off one of their own. Water-ski instructor Jamie Newton was the one whose torch was snuffed after his tribe mates decided that his paranoia was starting to drive them crazy. So surprised was Jamie that he shouted, "Blindsided, nice!" when Jeff Probst read off the deciding ballot. TVGuide.com caught up with the affable 24-year-old to find out if he is miffed that the other players called him crazy.

TVGuide.com: I've got to ask — what was the deal with you and Bobby Jon?
Jamie:
We are just very competitive guys. He started in when he had his legs raised in the air [du read more

Second Time Not the Charm for Survivor

Bobby Jon Drinkard

Not many people get a second chance to win a million dollars, but Bobby Jon Drinkard — who was on the constantly losing Ulong tribe on Survivor: Palau — got such a shot during Survivor: Guatemala. While the sweet 27-year-old from Alabama didn't become the sole Survivor, he did achieve his goal of making it to the jury. TVGuide.com asked Bobby Jon about his feud with Jamie and tried to find out why he and Palau pal Stephenie just didn't get along.

TVGuide.com: On your first day in Guatemala, you were hiking through the jungle and ended up dehydrated with your eyes rolling back in you head. Were you thinking, "What the heck did I get myself into?"
Bobby Jon:
You totally hit the nail on the read more

Survivor Farmer Put Out to Pasture

Brandon Bellinger

On last Thursday's Survivor: Guatemala, the Nakum and Yaxha tribes merged to form Xhakum. But the merge was really in name only, since the Nakum members, outnumbering the Yaxha six to four, remained loyal to their tribal alliances and sent home Brandon Bellinger. The 22-year-old farmer was given a bit of fair warning and made it his mission to find his one saving grace: a 6-inch-tall immunity idol hidden in the jungle. Though he has some experience with haystacks, that didn't help him find what was basically the equivalent of a needle in one. TVGuide.com caught up with Brandon after his torch got snuffed to ask how he managed to stay calm, cool and collected even in the face of losing. TVGuide.com: How did you maintain your laid-back demeanor during the game? It amazes me!Brandon Bellin read more

Survivor Cop Is Relieved of Duty

Amy O'Hara

Just minutes before the Yaxha tribe merged with Nakum on CBS' Survivor: Guatemala — The Maya Empire (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET), the remaining members decided to vote off Amy O'Hara. It momentarily seemed like the Yaxhas might have kept the 39-year-old tough-talking Massachusetts police sergeant, who so stoically struggled with a battered ankle, in favor of ousting repeat Survivor wannabe Bobby Jon, but the last-minute plan failed and Amy was sentenced to leave. TVGuide.com asked Amy about her ouster, her plans to bust Gary for lying and which opponent she would have arrested for foul play. TVGuide.com: I thought you had a chance there, when Danni suggested getting rid of Bobby Jon. Amy O'Hara: I know, and I worked it the best I could. When I look back, I wouldn't have done anything differently. I worked hard and tried a few different thin read more

Survivor's Alabama Man Slammed

Another week, another Ulong tribe member voted off Survivor: Palau. Last Thursday it was Bobby Jon Drinkard's turn. That leaves only Stephenie, for those of you keeping track. After the not-so-dynamic duo lost their most recent tribal immunity challenge, they competed in an individual firemaking task, in which Steph smoked Bobby Jon. Here, TVGuide.com sits down with the 27-year-old Alabama native to learn what exactly went wrong for the cursed Ulong tribe. TVGuide.com: No matter what happened, you were so optimistic. Did you ever want to give up? Bobby Jon Drinkard: Many times out there, losing time after time, you tell yourself, "Gosh, there is just no way I can keep doing this. I wish somebody would just come and sweep me up right now and take me away." Then I would always think that a lot of people would like to change positions [with me, and] that I sacrificed a lot to get there read more
