All My Children has spent months percolating a romance between Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and her crusty mountain man Caleb (Michael Nouri) and so far her fiancé Jack — played by the marvelous Walt Willey — has remained pretty clueless. But he's about to wake up and smell the triangle. This week, David (Vincent Irizarry) comes out of his coma and remembers it was Kendall (Alicia Minshew) who shot him, and that finds an emotionally frazzled Erica leaning on Caleb, rather than Jack. On February 1, Jack catches the two of them in an embrace. General Hospital Leads Daytime Emmy Nominations

General Hospital nabbed a leading 18 Daytime Emmy Award nominations Wednesday as it goes for its 11th outstanding drama series trophy.

The ABC soap, which has won outstanding drama series more times than any other show, will vie for the top honor against All My Children, defending champion The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. General Hospital last won the award in 2008.

All of soapdom was buzzing on Wednesday when the Daytime Emmy nominations were announced. Here's how your sudsy faves reacted to all the big news....

First-time nominee Renee Goldsberry (Evangeline) had a mixed reaction to being One Life to Live's lone acting anointee. "It's bittersweet because I saw some great work on my show last year," the supporting-actress contender told TVGuide.com. "I don't want to single anybody out, but I can't help it: Bree [Williamson, Jess/Tess], I thought was absolutely wonderful, [as were] John-Paul [Lavoisier, Rex], Robin Strasser (Dorian)... I also thought that Tari [Signor, Margaret], who was [pre]nominated in [my] category, was really, really great. Michael Easton (John) should get a little shout-out as well, because you're only as good as your partner."
