"Nasty" Surprise Threatens Old Christine's New Love!

Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Blair Underwood, The New Adventures of Old Christine

The New Adventures of Old Christine may be a comedy, but the season finale (airing tonight at 8:30 pm/ET) promises plenty of drama. Relationships may end, new ones might begin, and there'll be a kiss that could change the whole direction of the show. Sound ambiguous? That's exactly the point — at least as star Julia Louis-Dreyfus sees it. After revealing a key plot detail, she steps back: "You'd better not [write] that, because it gives it away," she says, laughing. Instead, she offers this: "Something nasty happens." The nastiness involves a sexual mishap that threatens her burgeoning relationship with her son's teacher, Mr. Harris ( read more

January 8, 2007: Ritchie Scores

OK, so I’m a huge fan of Christine getting with Ritchie’s teacher, Mr. Harris, and it has to happen soon. I know it can’t happen right away and I like how they’re dragging it out, but I’m very excited to see what happens when they actually get together. They’ve had a lot of those almost-moments, and you know those moments are building up to something. There’s a lot of chemistry between them, which is well-played between Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Blair Underwood. They’re very good at showing their attraction to each other without giving us so much that we get tired of the two of them together. Every time they’re together, I’m excited to see it and I want them to just put down their walls and kiss each other already. But, alas, there’s Ritchie. They have the whole parent-teacher thing. But I’d really love to see what would happen if Daniel Harris and Christine got together. I’d love to see how the Mean Mommies would react.... read more

December 4, 2006: The Passion of the Christine

Tonight’s episode was a repeat of this season’s premiere, and it was good to revisit all the reasons why Richard and Christine should not be together. Yes, it’s easier for them to hang out with Ritchie and be parents without carting Ritchie back and forth between homes. Yes, they’re comfortable together. Yes, Richard can build fancy laundry rooms. Yes, they can rent movies, eat chili and watch football together, but that doesn’t make a marriage work. They’re missing that sweaty-palms kind of passion that Christine is suddenly feeling from the hunky new fourth-grade teacher Mr. Harris (otherwise known as the gorgeous Blair Underwood). Things would be easy if Richard and Christine just got back together and fell into the same routine they had been in before, but they don’t love each other passionately. They love each more like friends, and they work better as friends. About their routine, Christine said: “I make a few lists, he runs a few errand... read more

HBO Books Three More for Treatment

HBO's In Treatment, that is. Blair Underwood, Melissa George and Dianne Wiest have been added to the cast of Gabriel Byrne's half-hour drama series, based on (no kidding) an Israeli hit. Byrne plays a shrink who's beyond therapy, while Underwood and George play his patients. The fantabulous Wiest, last seen badly miscast on Law & Order, is Byrne's once and future analyst. read more

Legal Drama for Axed Housewives Star

Page Kennedy, Boston Legal

The big buzz surrounding Desperate Housewives last November sweeps wasn't about anything happening on screen, but about the abrupt dismissal of Page Kennedy from the role of Caleb, the Applewhite family's mysterious cellar-dweller. Despite what's been reported, rumored and simply fabricated, however, Kennedy is back on ABC, facing more "legal drama" as a guest star on Boston Legal (tonight at 10 pm/ET). Have the actor and the network kissed and made up? TVGuide.com: Here you are appearing on another ABC series, so some sort of peace has been made, right? Page Kennedy: Right. Like I have said before, all of read more

Scrubs Star Is a Wizard of Ha-Has

Donald Faison, Scrubs

Tonight at 9 pm/ET, NBC's Scrubs presents its 100th episode, featuring — no, not the death of someone close to Clark Kent — a humorous homage to The Wizard of Oz. This week's second helping guest-stars Jason Bateman and a whole lotta angry ostriches. Is this show officially off the hook? TVGuide.com spoke with Donald Faison, aka Turk, about crafting Scrubs' weekly remedy for the prime-time blahs. TVGuide.com: Donald Faison, pardon my French, but you are on one damn funny show.Donald Faison: Thanks, but where did you speak French in that? TVGuide.com: Um, when I said "Faison"?
