When a mountaintop removal coal mine encroaches on their community, the two find themselves on opposite sides of a debate that divides their community and the world — who controls, consumes, and benefits from the planet's dwindling supply of natural resources? In a small town in dire economic straits and high unemployment, the coal company's offer to buy land and provide jobs can be hard to resist. Carlos is a precocious 18 year-old who returns to America from Mexico with dreams of becoming a movie star. Standing in Carlos' way is his tyrannical father, Pepe, and his "business," a male prostitution ring made up of young Mexican men who sell Star Maps on the streets from Hollywood to Beverly Hills. With the help of a beautiful television star, Carlos struggles to break from his father and his oppressive family, and make his dream come true.
