During World War II, Violette Szabo volunteers to join the SOE (Special Operations Executive) and parachutes into France as a secret agent to aid a Resistance group. After her first mission is a success, she returns to France, but this time is captured by the Germans. Tortured by the Gestapo for information, she refuses to betray her comrades and is consequently deported to a German concentration camp. A moving story about the strength of the human spirit, in even the most adverse circumstances. Based on a best-selling biography of the same name by R. J. Minney, which was based on the true story of the heroism of SOE agent Violette Szabo.
Lynn Redgrave is adorable and the title tune (By Tom Springfield and Jim Dale, sung by the Australian group The Seekers featuring Judith Durham) irresistible in the opening sequence from Georgy Girl, 1966.
