Betty White: Animal Work Gives Me the Greatest Joy

Betty White

Betty White's name is as synonymous with animal advocacy as it with comedy — and she wouldn't have it any other way. "I'm the luckiest person in the world. My life is divided in absolute half: half animals, half show business," White, 87, tells TVGuide.com. "They're the two things I love the most and I have to stay in show business to pay for my animal work!" The six-time Emmy winner, who will receive SAG's Life Achievement Award in January, opened up to us about her lifelong passion and what we can do to be more animal-conscious.

At the age of 87, Betty White has the spirit of a college kid — specifically, a frat boy. Kimberly Williams-Paisley by Tony Barson/ WireImage.com, Betty White by Rebecca Sapp/ WireImage.com

Two pieces of Boston Legal casting news hit my Blackberry as I took a break from hanging with the Tree Hillers down here in North Carolina. (Check my Facebook page for updates on and photos from that!)For starters, Catherine Piper is returning to Boston this season, again played by guest-star Betty White. Catherine is one of the legal dramedy's most colorful visitors, having partaken in a murderous arc a few seasons back, and served a stint as the law firm's sandwich lady. Also on board for a guest gig is Kimberly Williams-Paisley, best known as Father of the Bride's bride and from her According to Jim run as Cheryl's sis. Thus far, no deets on KW-P's role or story. — Matt Mitovich read more

'Bananas for Betty'

So… Betty and Henry are still in love. I thought for a moment they were doomed — or at least set for another rough patch. She and Henry were trying so desperately to make the most of the 17+ weeks they now have left to be together. But Gio's still in her world, and the more time she spends around either of them…. She likes what she sees in Henry but… there's something about Gio that is equal parts irritating and appealing. I understand. I mean, on the one hand, so what if Henry can't fix a sink? Does Gio know about New German Cinema? And man, that is one ripped accountant. He can dance when he wants to, and according to Gio, he has the moves of a jungle cat. I knew he had that passionate, spontaneous side to him (remember the medieval restaurant?). But Gio is more spontaneous; he lightens Betty up. And though Gio took Betty's sister to the club, even a drunk Hilda read his signals correctly, when he cast that longing look toward Betty as she and Henry left the da... read more
