Jan 29 - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton meets Nicolas Sarkozy during a one-day trip to Paris and loses her shoe as the French president greets her on the steps of the Elysee Palace.
Clinton, who arrived from London where she took part in the conference on the reconstruction of Afghanistan, was due to give a speech on European security later in the day and was expected to meet Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.
Clinton left without making any comment -- either on diplomacy, or on what impact the sartorial incident had had on Franco-American relations. watch
