Freshly released from prison, stagecoach driver Sunset Carson's brother Jeff (Bob Steele) goes to work for Marc Redmond (Tristram Coffin), the corrupt owner of a rival stage line, who, unbeknownst to Sunset, was responsible for Jeff's parole. Taking advantage of the debt Jeff owes him, Redmond forces the young man to orchestrate a gold hijacking that, if successful, will eliminate the competition.

Sunset Carson (Sunset Carson) is a member of a outlaw crew that has been intercepting shipments of gold from Laramie City. When old Jeff Winters (Hank Patterson) is left to die after a firefight, however, Sunset sours on the gang, bringing him and Jeff to join forces. The two outcasts switch sides and fall in with a sheriff's daughter (Marie Harmon), who finds a way to make former bandit Sunset a deputy sheriff.

When several stagecoaches are robbed and then mysteriously disappear -- along with their drivers -- postal inspectors Sunset Carson (Sunset Carson) and Pop Underwood (Tom London), teaming with female Pinkerton detective Julie Bennett (Peggy Stewart), try to unravel the mystery. Bennett has provided a head start by recovering some of the stolen cash and identifying local suspects, but the trio still have their work cut out for them.

A do-gooder Texas Ranger (Sunset Carson) poses as a desperado known as "the Kid" in order to infiltrate the notorious Marshall gang, a band of outlaws headed by an unlikely leader, the beautiful young ranch owner Ann Marshall (Peggy Stewart). Turns out Ann is simply trying to defend her spread against crooked banker Matt Conroy (Roy Barcroft), a nasty fellow who'll stop at nothing -- including murder -- to get his hands on her land.

Hoping to find a fortune in stolen gold bullion, railroad detective Sunset Carson (Sunset Carson) goes undercover as an outlaw to infiltrate the gang responsible, but winds up being hired as the sheriff of Gunsight by town founder George Layton (Frank Jaquet). Sunset is shot in the back by Slade (Kenne Duncan), the henchman of the gang's secret leader, but the hero still manages to uncover the head culprit's identity.

In this old-time Western from director George Sherman, peaceable cowpoke Jack Summers (Don "Red" Barry) takes the job of sheriff to help his adopted town in its bid to beat out a nearby settlement for a lucrative railroad contract. Soon enough, Summers's law-keeping skills are put to the test when the rival town stoops to robbery and other dastardly deeds to secure the railroad route once and for all.
