Diddy Stars in ABC’s A Raisin in the Sun

A Rasin In The Sun by Peter Stranks/ABC

You're really not going to find a cast much better than this for a TV movie. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Phylicia Rashad (the former Mrs. Huxtable), Audra McDonald (Private Practice) and John Stamos all star in tonight’s ABC TV-movie version of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun. It may seem as though Diddy is out of his league acting in this classic alongside some of the other seasoned cast members (as well as serving as the executive producer), but the critics are raving that this is a must-see performance. Raisin Stars Breathe New Life into a Classic

Sean Combs and Audra McDonald, A Raisin in the Sun

"Hello, my wife," jokes Sean Combs, welcoming the beautiful Audra McDonald to the executive floor of his Sean John and Bad Boy headquarters in New York City. They haven't seen each other in about a year, since filming wrapped on A Raisin in the Sun, the ABC TV-movie version of Lorraine Hansberry's classic tale of domestic strife during the fledgling civil rights era (Feb. 25 at 8 pm/ET). The film reunites the cast of the hit 2004 Broadway revival — Combs, McDonald, Phylicia Rashad and Sanaa Lathan — as a family nearly torn apart over how to spend a $10,000 insurance check. Combs' Walter Lee Jr. wants to open a liquor store, while McDonald's Ruth and Rashad's Lena want a new home  —  that happens to be in a white neighborhood. TV Guide: In today's read more

Private Practice Stars Can't Wait Until the Fall!

Audra McDonald by David Livingston/Getty Images

Although Private Practice won't return with new episodes for another seven months, Kate Walsh and Audra MacDonald are anxious to report back to the Oceanside Wellness Center as soon as April. And if you ask the two, it's about time. "We're thrilled. We're ready. We're chomping at the bit," an excited McDonald told TV Guide at Thursday night's NAACP Image Awards. The cast of the ABC hit is not disappointed in the decision to save all new episodes for the new season. Walsh is even relieved. "It would be such a mad rush to try to squeeze in what would probably be just three episodes, so I'd rather start over and relaunch it," she shared. "Hopefully our fans will be loyal and be wanting to tune in again watch it."Although neither Walsh or McDonald have any idea about future plot lines, McDonald is desperate to find out the outcome of her character's love triangle — as are her relatives. "I'm dying! I want to know who I end up with, Sam or Dell? Some of my aunts want me to end up wi... read more

"In Which Sam Gets Taken for a Ride"

If there's one thing I can say about this show, it's that they get some fantastic guest stars. Christopher from Gilmore Girls and, my personal fave, Darlene Connor. With a gun. In the convenience store. But I'll get to that. My first priority is to cover the sex that went on and the sex that didn't. Cooper and Violet — did anyone think that was really going to happen? I'll be honest and say I thought it was going to be Violet who chickened out, but I like how it worked out. I thought Cooper was going to confess his love for her right there in his Skivvies! The dynamic between these two is more intriguing to me than Pete and Addison. There is a lot going on there and I hope it continues to unfold in these awkward ways.Pete and Addison — I was glad that didn't happen. It was way too soon for them to take it to that level. Early in the show, I wondered where their relationship would go if they did the deed at this point. I couldn't figure it out, but I knew it didn't make me h... read more

I'm not even a Grey's Anatomy ...

Question: I'm not even a Grey's Anatomy watcher, but it was the star power that drew me to the backdoor pilot of Private Practice. I am very disappointed in the recasting of Merrin Dungey, who I thought was just fine when she played Naomi. Audra McDonald does take things too far. As for Amy Brenneman and Paul Adelstein, they are brilliant. I too remember his creepiness on Prison Break, especially his torturing Sarah Wayne Callies last year. His hidden depth in Practice is really great. I enjoy seeing how his love for kids and his work opens him up, and he and Amy have a better shot than Tim Daly and Kate Walsh at the "untouched chemistry" card. I've found myself in situations similar to what his character is struggling with, and it's written perfectly. The nervousness, the desire to not ruin the friendship and the feelings of inadequacy with someone who's having trouble letting go of an ex. It's good stuff, and if they kicked up Violet's interest in Cooper and then hit pause, it would ... read more

A show that I used to laud as ...

Question: A show that I used to laud as being the best on television has now become a soggy mess. It's bitterly disappointing. What show has left me so bereft? Grey's Anatomy. It's not excitingly different anymore. How can I like the direction of the show? My stomach churns dangerously whenever George and Izzie come on the screen. Cristina, who used to be hilariously and outrageously mean, is now just plain mean. In fact, whereas these characters used to be deliciously diverse and unique, every one of them now comes across as mean. And I am now weary of Meredith and Derek (this new version of their relationship tires me). I used to have faith enough in the writers to believe that they were taking these storylines somewhere rich and wonderful, but not anymore. The very core of the show, the characters, have changed. This season was going to be hard enough for me without my favorite character on the show, Dr. Burke (Isaiah Washington, who, despite anyone's opinion of his personality, is ... read more
