The War At Home

Even wedding dress shopping can't keep their minds off Justin. Brothers & Sisters by Michael Desmond/ABC

Episode Recap Home FrontAs Brothers and Sisters jumps into its second season its nice to see that the neurotic and argumentative Walkers are still just that The little quirks that made us love them last year are all back in full force They talk over one another pick at each other hold mini-grudges against each other get drunk together and they worry about each other Tonight it was the worrying that was at the crux of the show Justin still on active duty in Iraq has not been in touch for 21 days Is he okay Is he injured or worse Starting the show off with Nora recording a video message to her son was an effective way of catching us up with the family and keeping Justins off-screen character as much a part of the show as the rest of the family One of my favorite moments was just after Nora signed off and her game face immediately reverted back to the mask of concern that we know shes been wearing since that tearful airport good-bye in last seasons finale T read more

CW Announces Its Fall Lineup

On Wednesday night, CW's top-rated series, America's Next Top Model, showed double-digit growth last season and was the No. 1 show in its time slot with women 18-34. Next season, America's Next Top Model will stay in its 8-9 pm berth, followed by the new drama Gossip Girl from 9-10 pm. From The O.C. producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Gossip Girl is based on the best-selling young-adult book series of the same name. The show features an ensemble cast of new and veteran actors, including Blake Lively (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Leighton Meester (Surface), and chronicles the struggle for social supremacy among teens in a posh Manhattan prep school. The fun, sexy and dramatic hour is a perfect companion piece for Top Model's strong female audience, making Wednesday "Girls Night In" on The CW. On Thursday — television's most competitive night — Smallville and Supernatural deliver a solid mix of male and female viewers. On Friday, the wildly popular ... read more

At the Movies: Vegas Wedding for Kutcher and Diaz

Per the Reporter, Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher are in talks to star in What Happens in Vegas..., a rom-com about two strangers who, following a night of debauchery, wake to find themselves hitched. It's like that Friends episode, only... actually, I have no end to that sentence.... Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, employing motion-capture technology, will each direct one film in a trilogy based on the adventures of Tintin, says the AP.... Forest Whitaker, you've won an Oscar! What's next for you? Why of course, a film with Jessica Biel. The big guy's a suicidal ex-priest, Biel a stripper with a heart of gold terminally ill son in the inspirational drama Powder Blue. read more

Beauty and the Geek Preview: One Plus One Equals Threesomes?!

Beauty and the Geek

When Beauty and the Geek first debuted on the WB (remember the WB?) in 2005, many assumed it would either be a bad dating show or a cruel prank. Happily, it was neither. Exec producers Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg managed to make it a sweet, good-natured "social experiment" in which two opposite groups helped each other become more well-rounded and understand each others' worlds. Any friendships and romances were just the surprising side effect. Well, something different must have been in the air when they were filming the third go-round (premiering tonight at 8 pm/ET, on the CW), because when we caught Goldberg between his myriad projects, he told TVGuide.com that this year's beauty-geek connections shocked even him. Top Model Champ Survives Gap-baiting

America's Next Top Model winner Danielle Evans

Also be sure to check out the Insider Q&As with Top Model runners-up Joanie and Jade. How do I love America's Next Top Model winner Danielle Evans? Let me count the ways. For starters, the 20-year-old was never at a loss for words. (If your attention span is so short that you don't remember how wonderfully witty she is, read on — this interview will remind you.) She fought as long and hard as anyone could've against Tyra Banks' head-scratch read more

Did Beauty Find Love with Her Geek?

Cher Tenbush and Josh Herman, Beauty and the Geek

Who would have thought that a show called Beauty and the Geek could be one of the nicest reality shows on television? This season began with seven guys and girls paired up with the goal of pushing everyone out of their comfort zones, all while shooting for a $250,000 payday. The winners of executive producer Ashton Kutcher's "social experiment" this time were Josh Herman, 27, and Cheryl Tenbush, 24 — a surprise in only that this nondating show resulted in a romance for Cher and fellow contestant Wes Wilson. Since Beauty and the Geek wrapped, Josh has sold a comedy screenplay to Fox and Cher has moved out to L.A. (But as our phone call will reveal, it seems she's not out there by her lonesome....) read more

Beauty and the Geek In the past,...

Beauty and the Geek In the past, I guess I always fast-forwarded (thank you, DVR) through the opening credits, but I finally heard the lyrics of the show's theme song (the Pet Shop Boys' "Opportunity"): "I've got the brains; you've got the looks. Let's make lots of money." That Ashton Kutcher is just so creative. Anyway, the beauties finally learned the age-old lesson, "Don't judge a book by its cover." It all kicked off when the girls were extremely nervous about having to ask one of the guys in the house (other than her partner) out on a date. Brittany chose Ankur, although she said she wasn't sure what they would talk about because she "likes Diet Coke and he likes fruity stuff." But to everyone's surprise, including mine, it was smo read more

Dancing with the Stars Tom Bergeron...

Dancing with the Stars
Tom Bergeron
was faster than the quickstep with his off-the-cuff humor tonight — calling the rowdy audience soccer fans, warning the judges not to tell Drew Lachey he wasn't "in sync," suggesting that Master P start a line of dancing shoes. I was also tickled by the way George Hamilton was orchestrating all these little soap-operatic scenes for the moments just before the commercial. I'm glad some people are taking the competitive edge off things.

Lisa and Louis: I always thought of the rhumba as Baby and Johnny's dance from Dirty Dancing. Even without the lift, this was much dirtier. But what, dear god, is up with choosing that read more
