Proximity -- An inmate serving time for vehicular homicide, overhears prison guards discussing plans for a murder and becomes a target himself.

A comic thriller in the Hitchcock style in which an out-of-towner who shares a taxi with a beautiful stranger mails a mysterious package on her behalf. But when she is murdered, he is suddenly pursued by the police, hitmen and sinister spies who think he knows something.

William Conroy (Rob Lowe), a former college professor is in Ohio State Prison for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter of a college student. William hears strange sounds coming from a neighboring inmates cell and the following morning, learns that the prisoner is dead… the 15th victim in a string of apparent “suicides.” Fearing for his life, William contacts his lawyer to move up his parole hearing, but on his way to the hearing he begins to realize that there is a ring of conspirators involving the warden, the guards, and even the prisoners. Together with his lawyer, William must uncover the rampant corruption at the prison.

Gene Wilder plays Michael Jordon, an innocent by-stander turned victim, turned hero. Kate Hellman (Gilda Radner) falls in love with him while looking for her brother's murderers. Together they are caught in a world of international intrigue, suspense and murder. Ransom (Richard Widmark), a ruthless adversary,is intent on eliminating Michael. Pursued by Ransom, Michael and Kate embark on a bold mission which takes them on a wild ride in an airplane high above the Grand Canyon, to a hidden military command center, through a frenzied chase in the streets of New York and to a desert outpost where attackers besiege them from all sides.
