The Honorable Judge Joshua Finch (Dennis Haysbert) is an old-style lawman from Earth newly landed on an alien world. He's been made the territorial judge of this quadrant to bring law and order to the commercial mining colony of Daedelus where the Earth colonists are pitting themselves against the reputedly savage Medusans, an indigenous race. He arrives in time to stop an attempted lynching of a Medusan (Ian Marsh) accused of murdering three members of a mapping party. Aided by the simulated human Miranda (Anne Marie Loder), who was sent from Earth to assist him, Finch manages to move the escalating dispute into the courtroom. But as Finch soon discovers, the words "guilt," "innocence" and "truth" have many different definitions on this world.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
