I was getting a little worried...

I was getting a little worried when the beginning of tonight's episode rehashed, again, what we'd already seen for the last two weeks in the hatch. But it finally progressed beyond what happened after Jack recognized Desmond. And we got to see a creepy little film that is clearly jumpy and missing some key parts. But who the heck is this Hanso guy who is funding this whole Swan-Dharma plan? Why'd they have to go and give me nightmares by showing that blurry, far-off picture of him? What is the significance of having each pair committed to service for 540 days? And if the Dharma Initiative was created in 1970, why was the copyright on the film 1980? Did it take 10 years to implement, or was it up and running for that long before things went really bad? And why was the orientation film hidden behind a copy of The Turn of the Screw? What exactly does a spooky ghost story about a governess have to do with this island? Is Desmond not real? And I've got to know, what exa read more

SHHH! DON'T TELL ANYONE

Although George Clooney's spokesperson is denying it, the New York Daily News reports that the former ER star will host a wedding for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at his Lake Cuomo estate next month. The ferry captain who works at Clooney's estate has reportedly been instructed to keep Nov. 20-22 open to transport guests to and from the premises. In related news, Courteney Cox Arquette was seen helping a disguised pal shop for harpoon guns. read more

THAT'S THE PITTS

According to the New York Post, Brad Pitt pink-slipped a pregnant staffer after she told Vanity Fair that it would be "beyond painful" for his ex, Jennifer Aniston, to see him start a family with Angelina Jolie. Not only is the exec said to have broken her confidentiality agreement, but the boss man apparently really hates hyperbole. read more

HITTING THE MODER LODE

She was "eh" as Alexander the Great's mommy, but maybe she will do better parenting an eighth-century Scandinavian hero. Headline magnet Angelina Jolie will play the mother of Beowulf in Robert Zemeckis' upcoming big-budget feature based on the Old English epic poem. Beowulf will be computer animated, using the same performance-capture technology as Zemeckis' The Polar Express, meaning some ridiculously lucky stagehand will get to stick those little ping-pong ball thingies all over Brad Pitt's lady friend.

AT LAST, SHE SPEAKS

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston admits to being "lonely," "upset" and "confused" by the dissolution of her marriage to Brad Pitt and her hubby's subsequent closeness with Angelina Jolie. "That really p----- me off," she tells Vanity Fair, referring to published stories suggesting that she didn't want to give Pitt a family. "I've never in my life said I didn't want to have children. I did and I do and I will!" While Aniston allows that Pitt and Jolie's W pictorial (promoting Mr. & Mrs. Smith with a "family album") was in poor taste, she says, "I choose to believe my husband" and his claims that he didn't bed Jolie before their separation. "I will love [Brad] for the rest of my life. I really do hope that someday we can be friends again." Awww, look at her giving read more

COMING SOON?

Colin Farrell

Hollywood playboy Colin Farrell, who over the years has been romantically linked to such babes as Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie and Demi Moore, has a homemade sex vid floating around out there, and it costars... well, "just" a Playboy Playmate. Now the actor has filed suit to keep the aforementioned ex-lover, Nicole Narain, from distributing the 15-minute tape, claiming this "commercial exploitation... exceeds all bounds of common decency." Besides, Farrell has a 30-minute director's cut that he's far prouder of. read more

Melissa came out of the gate strong...

Hell's Kitchen

Melissa came out of the gate strong and used that momentum to win a bunch of challenges and carry her across the finish line and off to the school of her dreams — Pomona College. While I'm sure it's a good school (and I certainly don't mean to sound like a snobby Ivy Leaguer, since I myself didn't attend one) but I expected that Melissa — like most of the people on this show —was attending a big-name university. But good for her for finding what, according to my quick Google search, looks like a pretty tough school to get into, with a hefty little tuition that she now doesn't have to worry about, thanks to the scholarship committee and Steve Martin (yes, the wild-and-crazy guy himself exec-produced this show). This turned out to be a good-natured series that focused on the positive and left all that nasty reality backstabbing behind. What a nice idea to have the three finalists' mentors give speeches, and to have a former competitor get up and say read more

Tears and Jeers at the Oscars

Let's get real: Nobody watches the Academy Awards to find out who wins. You're going to read all about that the morning after in Michael Ausiello's column, and you know it. No, we tune in to the overlong ego trip for three reasons and only three reasons: the clothes, the catastrophes and the crying (and, when we get really, really lucky, the chance to see all three at once). That being the case, last night's live broadcast of the 76th annual ceremony was, by all accounts, a rousing success. For those of you who were too busy double-checking your office Oscar-pool ballots to pay attention to the goings-on, TV Guide Online offers this instant replay. Clothes CallsFirst, let's take a moment to embrace our inner Joan Riverses and talk about the outfits. Trading her Morticia Addams hand-me-downs for a stunning ivory gown, radiant read more
