Andy Serkis is reteaming with his LOTR director in Peter Jackson's adaptation of Tintin. Per the Reporter, Serkis is rumored to be playing Capt. Haddock.... Heroes' Eriko Tamura (playing Mai), Joon Park (as Yamcha) and Emmy Rossum, have joined the cast of Dragonball.

A few casting quickies: As scooped on Monday by the Ausiello Report, Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly) is joining House for the season's penultimate episode, playing a potential love interest for the grumpy doc. See Mike for more. Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, The O.C.) will headline Hallmark Channel's Avenging Angel, playing a fallen preacherman out to punish some church-torching marauders. Also per the Reporter, Andy Serkis, aka the LOTR films' Gollum, will star as Albert Einstein in Einstein and Eddington, a TV-movie collaboration between HBO and the BBC. Doctor Who's David Tennant will play the latter astrophysicist, Sir Arthur Eddington.

Answer: With moviemaking technology changing at an ever-increasing pace, the Academy has been reviewing a number of its policies, and I've heard it suggested that over the next few years they'll wind up doing their biggest overhaul since the introduction of sound in the 1920s. I have to wonder, for example, whether the conspicuous absence of Frank Miller's Sin City – by any objective standard one of the most visually stunning films released in 2005 – in any category is because members of the various branches didn't know what to nominate it for, given that the photography was extensively digitally overhauled and the production was almost entirely computer generated.
