Bones: Can Brennan Overcome Being Haunted by "The Ghost Killer"?

Emily Deschanel

It seems the Pelant story line on Bones just won't die.

Although Booth (David Boreanaz) ended Pelant (Andrew Leeds) once and for all with a gunshot to the heart earlier this season, the cyber serial killer makes yet another unsettling appearance to Brennan (Emily Deschanel) in the show's midseason premiere (Friday at 8/7c, Fox).

"We just want to confirm the fact that she's haunted by this, that Pelant has had an impact on them," executive producer Stephan Nathan tells TVGuide.com of the spooky twist. "While he's gone, the impact on everything that he's done is still with them, which will inform some other stories in the future, although Pelant won't really be a part of them. There are a couple of loose ends for us to clean up, but the series is moving forward. We're not going to go back to Pelant much more."

However, the hints Pelant dropped before he died about another serial killer live on and take on scary new life on Friday's episode... read more

Bones fans will get a double dose of action this week.

The show will air a new episode on Monday (8/7c, Fox) before shifting into its new timeslot (Fridays at 8/7c) later in the week. And even though lead characters Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and FBI agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) recently got married, executive producer Stephen Nathan insists the show is nowhere near finished.

When the Bones producers announced at Comic-Con in July that Booth and Brennan would indeed tie the knot this season, many fans were surprised to learn how early in the season it would happen.

The Monday Playlist: Mom's First Date, Bones Nemesis Returns, Dream School

Anna Faris

Until CBS stops going for Broke, it may be hard for Mom, one of the season's more promising and pungent new comedies, to get the break it, and the title character, deserves. What's happening to CBS on Monday with its once-dominant comedy lineup is a slow-fade version of the freefall NBC experienced with its Thursday lineup in the wake of Friends. Holding on to shows too long (How I Met Your Mother, which could have wrapped this whole thing way earlier), promoting shows too soon with too little to offer (the shrill and increasingly charmless 2 Broke Girls), making odd decisions like keeping the award-winning Mike & Molly on the shelf in favor of an insta-dud like the abysmal We Are Men, this is one of those rare nights when CBS's programming acumen has mostly crapped out. (Monday's loss is, of course, Thursday's gain, with former Monday anchors The Big Bang Theory and, to a lesser degree these days, the played-out Two and a Half Men helping get early sampling for newbies The Millers and The Crazy Ones.)

David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel Preview Bones Season 9

Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz

David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel have spent a week at Walt Disney's historic Golden Oak Ranch in Santa Clarita, Calif. But this is not a relaxing getaway for the Bones stars. They are here shooting scenes in which their characters, Special Agent Seeley Booth and Dr. Temperance Brennan, go undercover as their trashy alter egos Tony and Roxy to investigate a murder at a couples' retreat. During a break in filming, Boreanaz, sporting a tank top, red velour sweats and a thick gold chain, sits next to his leading lady, who is dressed down in tight blue slacks and oversize shades, to talk about the drama's ninth season. It's the year the crime-solving duo say "I do" in a guest-star-filled wedding (Ryan O'Neal and... read more

Bones Season 9: Bosses Tease a Rocky Road to the Booth-Brennan Wedding

Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz

This summer, Bones creator Hart Hanson did something he hates doing: He gave viewers a huge spoiler.

At Comic-Con in July, Hanson told thousands of gathered fans that -- despite the Season 8 cliff-hanger that saw Booth (David Boreanaz) turn down a long-awaited proposal from Brennan (Emily Deschanel) because of a threat from serial killer Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds) — Booth and Brennan will be getting married this season. "It was a sad enough season-ender that we wanted to tell people, 'You know what? This works out alright,'" Hanson tells TVGuide.com.

As such, crafting the Season 9 premiere (Monday at 8/7c, Fox), which takes place a few months after where the finale left off, became a bit tricky. After all, before that happy day comes, Booth and Brennan have to work through the consequences of Booth's lie. "We had to figure out: 'How do we continue telling the story of these two people in an honest way?'" executive producer Stephan Nathan says... read more

[WARNING: The following story contains major spoilers from Bones Season 8 finale. Read at your own risk.]

So much for a happy ending.

Spoilers! Get scoop on 39 must-watch finales

Although Bones' Season 8 finale teased viewers by finally having Brennan (Emily Deschanel) ask Booth (David Boreanaz) to marry her, the smiles soon faded thanks to Christopher Pelant (guest star Andrew Leeds). While Booth & Co. were ultimately able to stop Pelant from taking out Sweets (John Francis Daley), the serial killer had the last laugh.

Once he learned of Booth and Brennan's engagement, Pelant threatened to kill more innocent people if Booth didn't call off the wedding. What's more, Booth couldn't let Brennan know the real reason behind his change of heart. Although Brennan agreed with Booth's decision, the closing shot proved that her heart has been broken.

So will Brennan revert to her hyper-rational ways of thinking? And is Booth's only way out of this mess to kill Pelant as he threatened to do? We chatted with executive producer Stephen Nathan to get the scoop on what's to come.

The Monday Playlist: Warehouse 13 Returns, Fox's Serial-Killer Finales, ABC Soaps Go Online

Joanne Kelly as Myka Bering, James Marsters

Even with the clock ticking on a looming medical apocalypse, a worldwide pandemic of fatal "English Sweating Sickness" initiated by the unleashing of a magical Black Orchid thingamabob, Syfy's quirky fan fave Warehouse 13 manages to find time to crack wise about the end of the world.

"It's always 'ultimately death,'" Agent Pete (Eddie McClintock) bemoans when clued in about just how nasty the disease is that has infected the entire team and much of the rest of the planet. "Artifacts never release a plague of tickles or an epidemic of kittens." A plague of tickles: not a bad way to describe this tongue-in-cheek supernatural lark which pulls out all the guest-star stops in an eventful episode (Monday, 10/9c) by Drew Z. Greenberg that kicks off the second half of Season 4 with Evil Artie's (Saul Rubinek) life and soul also in jeopardy. read more
