The Crazy Ones

Question: Recently, Amy Sherman-Palladino gathered some of the cast to film a goodbye dance to the much-beloved ABC Family series Bunheads. I admit it, watching it made me a little misty. I wish more creators respected their fans and casts enough to provide such closure. Do you think such series codas will, or should, become more common? Also, do you think they are a good or bad thing for fans and show runners? Meaning: Does it just prolong the fans' agony of letting a favorite show go by keeping them hoping for one more taste and, on the creative side, label creators as undesirable to work with if they're unable to let their failed ideas go, potentially preventing them from getting future projects produced because no one just wants a copy of something that didn't work elsewhere?

Ask Matt: NCIS' "Red" Team, Top of the Lake, Gays on Days, More

Elisabeth Moss

Question: Are you as I stumped as I am about what makes the NCIS Red Team unique? In last week's episode of NCIS: LA, there was a moment when they were trying to tell a Mexican gunman to put his weapon down and none of them could speak Spanish. Which is odd given they are suppose to be a very mobile unit that goes anywhere, you would think they would be well versed in multiple languages. I was under the impression they were going to be NCIS' version of Seal Team Six. As for casting, the only one of the team that made an impression on me was the Aussie agent Claire Keats (Gillian Alexy). I still think Kelli Giddish would have been a better choice for the lead. Just my thoughts. — Leon

Nathan Parsons on Bunheads Romance, Stripping For His Bosses, General Hospital Offer

Nathan Parsons

There's something about a man in uniform. That slow, simmering attraction between Bunheads widow Michelle (Sutton Foster) and surfer dude Godot (Nathan Parsons) officially gets hot in Monday's episode (9/8c, ABC Family) — hot enough to brings in the hooks and ladders.

"So far we've only seen Michelle and Godot making out and trading barbs but things take a turn when there's a wild fire and he shows up in full firefighter gear," says Parsons. "She has no idea he's a volunteer with the Paradise fire department and really likes what she sees. In fact, that uniform works so well I'm thinking of getting one in real life!"

Ask Matt: The Killing Post-Mortem, Bunheads, Longmire, More

Mireille Enos

Send questions and comments to askmatt@tvguidemagazine.com and follow me on Twitter!

Question: I've been mulling over the ending of The Killing for a week now. Up until the series finale (which is what it should be), I was convinced that the writers hadn't known who the killer would be when they started the series. This was always a pet peeve of mine with soap operas. How can you plot a murder without a murderer? The main problem with this is that the actor playing the murderer doesn't have the background knowledge to act his or her scenes. Though using twice as many episodes as they needed, I could sort of see in the finale how they were setting things up. To truly see if that's the case, I'd have to re-watch the first couple of episodes, which I don't want to do.

5 Reasons to Give Bunheads a Chance

Sutton Foster

Yes, we must admit that the first few minutes of Bunheads were a little iffy (Michelle married her stalker! And we're supposed to be OK with that?). But by the end of the first episode, the ABC Family series hit its groove and started focusing on what it does best: heartfelt comedy, drama and dance! Still not convinced? Here are five reasons to give the fledgling series a chance — or at least a spot on your DVR queue. read more
