And if he is, does Hutch know?Sources tell me exclusively that Paul Michael Glaser has been tapped to guest-star on TNT's The Closer this season, in the July 21 episode. The set-up: When a recently paroled murderer is found dead in an alley, the parents of the girl he previously killed wind up in Brenda Leigh's sights. Glaser plays the dad, while Amy Aquino (aka ER's Dr. Janet Coburn) is the mom.The Closer, of course, is known for enlisting some of the best (if not "garden variety") guest stars in the biz and giving them gold to work with. Not only am I anxious to see what PMG does here, but I can also see Aquino keeping us guessing every step of the way as well. The Season 4 premiere, on July 14, can't get here soon enough. Goran Visnjic phoned it in tonight literally as we caught a too-quick glimpse of him and an aggravated and sadly hung-over Abby conversing about his extended stay in CroatiaDespite this painful separation Luka still looks as gorgeous as ever with his longer tousled hair We also had a chance to get reacquainted with two old favorites who are still making the ER rounds Arrogant resident-hating cardiologist Dr Kasen consulted on the unusual case of the young father-to-be suspected of self-inflicting a dangerous arrhythmia with amphetamines The always-wonderful Amy Aquino also reprised her role as obstetrician Dr Coburn who worked to save the mans baby while offering Abby counsel as she dealt with her fall from the wagon Was I the only one who was surprised to learn that Coburn was Abbys sponsor Was this established previouslyI have to say that despite Lukas absence it seems very uncharacteristic of Abby to be handling this situation so badly As a pa

After last week's laugh-filled hour, tonight was a bit of a letdown as far as the humor level goes. This doesn't mean I didn't like this episode I just enjoyed it less, and I am in agreement with those of you who are starting to get a bit tired of the Alma story line. When, oh, when will we get to see Monique in flashbacks again? At least we know that those teeth are actually Monique's, as expected, and we found out what Alma was injecting herself with hormones, so she'd get pregnant more easily. Speaking of which, how about Alma giving Orson both sleeping pills and Viagra so that she could rape him while he was passed out? I do give the writers (Valerie Ahern and Christian McLaughlin) credit for making references to Viagra without actually mentioning it, like Alma saying she gave Orson something "to keep the part of you I need nice and perky." That was pretty creepy when Gloria mentioned how much she wanted a grandchild while Alma got ready for her night with Orson by...

ERI remember this episode as the one where Luka and Abby started to spend more screen time together, and I recall being very happy about it. Little did we know at the time that they'd be getting back together soon and were on the verge of having a baby together. I also remember that I was glad to see Amy Aquino back on the show. She's one of those actresses who, no matter what part she plays, pretty much always plays the same type of character. We let it slide each time, however, since Amy is just so good at playing a tough cookie. Remember her as the nemesis to Ray Romano in several episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond? Boy did Ray hate her, which just made me love to hate her. Anyway, I hope we get to see more of Amy, along with more of Danny Glover as Pratt's fath

So after going to the live Will & Grace taping and getting a bite to eat at the after-party, where I told the cast how fabu they were, I was really in the mood to go home to watch my favorite Chicago-based medical drama. Actually, I wasn't — I had it TiVo'd, so I would have preferred to watch it at a later time, but an assignment is an assignment, right? Luckily, I got all my laughs out of my system at the taping, since this was an especially intense and depressing ER. You can't get much sadder than an injured surrogate mother who gives birth to a baby with toxic brain defects, causing the new parents not to want it anymore. Nice to see Amy Aquino back guesting on the show, but this was the second episode in a row without Kerry Weaver. At least Laura Innes directed it. Interesting how Sam and Luka chose to spend time away from each other, thus giving Goran Visnjic more screen time with Maura Tierney, which hasn't happened in ages.
