Parents Television Council Wants More Advertisers to Drop Playboy Club

The Parents Television Council says seven companies have pulled their advertising from NBC's The Playboy Club, and wants more to follow suit.

"The Playboy Club is a commercial disaster and must be removed from the airwaves. We call for the network to cancel this degrading and sexualizing program immediately," PTC President Tim Winter said.

Titanic Actor To Terrorize The Playboy Club

Actor Billy Zane, who terrorized Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in Titanic, will soon be doing the same to Eddie Cibrian on NBC's The Playboy Club. Billy will play the recurring role of Oscar Bianchi beginning in the sexy series' sixth episode.

With all the hubbub of Two and a Half Men's new man Ashton Kutcher taking over for Charlie Sheen on the ninth season premiere Monday night, it might be easy to forget that a comedy from the executive producer of Sex and the City debuted immediately after. The equally numerically descriptive 2 Broke Girls stars Kat Dennings as a sassy waitress who reluctantly befriends privileged but now broke girl Caroline (Beth Behrs).

The main thing that Chad Hodge wants you to know about his upcoming NBC series The Playboy Club is that it's not about the centerfolds. When Hodge, who last created The CW drama Runaway, was first approached by the studio to do a show about Hugh Hefner's famous Playboy Bunnies, his reaction was, "Is this going to be a scripted version of The Girls Next Door? No, thank you."

The September 19 premiere of NBC's 1960s-set The Playboy Club will reveal that one of the bunnies is a closeted lesbian married to a gay man. Openly gay series star Amber Heard, who plays the straight Maureen, was surprised to see the original depiction of the lesbian bunny as butch.

"She was originally written to be different from the other girls in the way that she dressed and carried herself — with less feminine grace," says Amber, who convinced executive producer Chad Hodge to rewrite the character.... read more
