The American Idol duet between Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert was destiny, to hear the 17-year-old redhead tell it.
"As soon as we heard about the duets, we looked at each other and were like, 'We gotta do one,'" Allison shares here in Part 1 of her TVGuide.com video Q&A. "We felt bad for Kris [Allen] and Danny [Gokey], because they wanted the girl, but they did good."
Alas, even being paired with Idol's season-long front runner could not keep Allison from being voted off.

Allison Iraheta, who fell shy of making American Idol's Top 3, says that while she went into Rock Week's results show "prepared for anything," she still found the timing of her ouster to be "weird."
Following Danny Gokey's "Dream On" scream heard 'round the world, in light of Danny and Kris Allen's tepid reviews, and factoring in her comparatively well-received solo and duet performances, it seemed for a moment that Allison was a lock to make the Top 3.
Instead, the 17-year-old got sent home.

Following a "cruel" twist and without a Judges Save to pull him from the ashes a second time, Matt Giraud got sent home this week. That sets up American Idol Season 8's final four as follows: Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen.
As seen in TVGuide.com's recently launched Top 4 poll, Adam once again has a commanding lead over his peers, and despite this week's "scare," he would seem destined for the finals. But who will join him there?
Or could either of the next two rounds of Idol votes deliver an actual surprise and leave Adam merely watching the finale from the cheap seats?
