The Biggest Loser has had its share of inspirational success stories, but this cycle aims for a whole new level of drama. This season is all about "second chances": Abbey, who lost her husband and children in a tragedy, and Daniel, the former heaviest contestant in Biggest Loser history, returning to finish the journey he began, are among this season's contestants. Alison Sweeney, soap star and host of the reality weight-loss series, shared her thoughts about Season 8 with TVGuide.com and explained why health and fitness have become so important in her own life.
TVGuide.com: This season's theme is "second chances." What sets it apart from the past seven seasons?

Alison Sweeney may already be known as the devious Sami on Days of Our Lives, but these days she's taking her other job as host of NBC's The Biggest Loser one step further by challenging herself to new fitness goals with EA SPORTS Active for Wii. New mom Sweeney opened up to TVGuide.com about how The Biggest Loser has had an epic season, how the contestants have inspired her to lose the baby weight quickly and what advice she has for other busy moms trying to stay fit.
TVGuide.com: You're a busy woman these days. Tell me about the EA SPORTS Active product you're working with?
Alison Sweeney: It's fantastic because it's not just the workout — it's a whole journal that you do so you really get a sense of the entire health picture. It's a trainer in a box and the nice thing about the workout is that it's interactive, so it makes sure you're challenging yourself and trying to be as fit as you can. I'm trying to get back into shape after my pregnancy so...

Alison Sweeney, the NBC darling who is currently doing double duty as a star of Days of Our Lives and the host of The Biggest Loser, is pregnant with her second child, due Jan. 20. Days has yet to announce if her crazy-ass character, Sami, will also get knocked up, but Sweeney hopes she does. "I'd feel bad if the crew had to hide my pregnancy for months and months," she says. "Besides, Sami just gave birth to twins. What's one more?" Sweeney broke the news to the next batch of Loser contestants during their Episode 5 weigh-in. (It'll air when Season 6 of the series returns this fall.) "It's going to be so weird gaining weight while everyone's trying so hard to lose it," says Sweeney, who has no rest in sight. With the oldest contestant ever losing the most weight ever in one week and the return of Jillian, I can already tell its is going to be one awesome season of The Biggest Loser. Im not a huge fan of reality shows, but this is one where I can understand the fascination of watching peoples lives on television. I cant wait to see these people go through life-changing experiences and see how much their bodies will transform in a few short months. The secret Black Team is an interesting twist, although I wish they hadnt given that away before the show even started. It would have been a lot more exciting hearing that after we had already met the contestants we would have felt sorry for those being sent home. But since I assumed theyd go to Jillians secret team, which they mentioned at the beginning, the very long buildup of a mysterious person on a motorcycle was a bit unnecessary.Maybe its a little unfair to pick favorites this early...
