Moonlight Fans Launch a Bloody-good Campaign | Today's News: Our Take | 4/2/2008
Fans of CBS' Moonlight have partnered with the Red Cross to mobilize the show's viewers to donate blood as a show of support for the vampire series that (still) is awaiting a second-season renewal. YouChoose.net, a hub for the effort, claims more than 4,000 pledges to donate a pint of blood have been received to date. I am going to preface my question by trying to establish a little street cred. My favorite shows include Veronica Mars, Friday Night Lights, Battlestar Galactica, The Sopranos and The Wire. I was an evacuee from the wildfires in Southern California last week; I had to leave my house for five days, and I didn't get power back until the sixth day. That's right, six days without television! Luckily, my house is fine and so is my TiVo. I had a chance to watch the pilots for both Moonlight and Reaper. I'm a big Supernatural fan, and these ghost/vampire genre shows, when done well, are a lot of fun. To me, one of these shows demonstrates how you do it well, and one demonstrates how you do it badly. Let's start with the good: I really enjoy Reaper. I wish I had the time to go back to the beginning of this series and watch the whole thing from the start again. I'd love to see the point where Shane's life started spiraling out of control. Maybe it was the money train, or hitting Tavon over the head, or even all the way back to the first episode when the strike team killed a cop.
