Linus Roache and Alana De La Garza discuss the importance of quality in each episode of Law & Order. watch

Law & Order: When Courtroom Tables Turn

Nothing about Law & Order in its current reinvigorated incarnation feels like a show in its 18th season. Maybe that’s because so much of the cast is brand-spanking new: Jeremy Sisto and Anthony Anderson as the freshly formed detective team of Lupo and Bernard, and Linus Roache as new chief ADA Michael Cutter, alongside Alana De La Garza, who’s only in her second season as executive ADA Connie Rubirosa. (Thankfully, S. Epatha Merkerson and Sam Waterston are still around as their bosses, providing continuity with Law & Order’s fabled past.)Tonight, in another strong episode, it’s De La Garza’s turn to shine, and she makes the most of it, proving herself a worthy successor to Jill Hennessy and Angie Harmon, my previous favorites in this often-thankless role. She is tough and aggressive, but always sympathetic, as she is forced to go up against her colleague Cutter in court as a temporary (and very reluctant) defense attorney, called into action because ...read more

CSI: Innsbruck? Caruso Stalker Wanted in Austria

Forensics are definitely needed in Innsbruck, Austria, to find a woman who failed to appear in court on charges that she has been stalking CSI: Miami star David Caruso. According to authorities, the 41-year-old suspect, from Tyrol, Austria, has sent more than 100 letters to Caruso, including death threats when he allegedly refused to sign an autograph. The threat read, in part, "I will locate you and your ugly Latina tramp and kill you." It has not been determined who the "tramp" in question might be, but it could be referring to Alana De La Garza, who played Caruso's CSI wife until the character was killed off.The suspect's absence in court Wednesday was not the first time she's gone MIA; she also did not show up for a July 2007 court date. A court-appointed psychiatrist testified that the stalker has been diagnosed with a "profound personality disorder." Local media, meanwhile, are milking the show's title for case coverage, dubbing the woman-hunt "CSI: Innsbruck." Think this stal...read more

Jeers: Lara Flynn Boyle Overheats Law & Order

Jeers to Lara Flynn Boyle for her ludicrous performance on Law & Order. Virtually unrecognizable from her days on another legal drama, The Practice, the puffed-up actress so overplayed the role of unscrupulous reporter Dawn Talley — who slept with not one but two murder suspects — she made Dirt's Lucy Spiller (Courteney Cox) look like Jim Lehrer. And we were supposed to believe that hard-charging ADA Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) was temporarily hoodwinked by this "lying slut" (as Alana De La Garza's ADA Connie Rubirosa called her)? That's out of Order!• For more Cheers & Jeers (and more "slut" name-calling!), check out the new vodcast.• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more

Who's replacing Dennis Farina ...

Question: Who's replacing Dennis Farina and Annie Parisse on Law & Order? Answer: You'll be seeing lots more women on the set next season. Taking over from Dennis Farina as a lead detective will be Milena Govich, most recently from Dick Wolf's failed Conviction. Taking over the assistant-district-attorney slot will be Alana De La Garza, who last season had the bad luck of being betrothed to CSI: Miami's Horatio Caine for about 10 minutes before she was gunned down. Not that this role traditionally has much job security. ... read more

Big Changes Coming to Law & Order

For its 17th season, the aging legal drama Law & Order will undergo an extreme makeover. The NBC warhorse moves to Fridays at 10 pm/ET in the fall and will add two new cast members, including — for the first time — a female street detective. After owning Wednesdays at 10 for more than a decade, L&O finally met its match the past two seasons against CSI: NY. Now NBC is going to see if the show will fare any better against another CBS hit, Numbers, on a night with lower expectations. Notoriously brusque creator and executive producer read more

Krypton Villain Now a CSI: Miami Bride?

Are Horatio Caine and Marisol Delko heading for a wedding on CBS' CSI: Miami (Mondays at 10 pm/ET)? Perhaps even en route to "happily ever after"? Or, in light of the nasty line of work that the good lieutenant is in, might this story go from a vow... to a kill? TVGuide.com rang Alana De La Garza, who plays Horatio's lady love, to get up to speed on CSI: Miami, a possible Smallville encore and her other TV adventures. TVGuide.com: We go back a few years, Alana, and you haven't been keeping me posted on your TV gigs this season. Instead, I get press releases saying, "Alana's do read more
