Aliens in America Star to Get Nip/Tucked | Today's News: Our Take | 4/25/2008
While Aliens in America is still on the bubble, the show's costar, Adhir Kalyan, has sewn up a recurring role on FX's Nip/Tuck. As Ausiello reported, Nip/Tuck was casting for a young Dr. Raj (really young), and they've found their boy, says the Reporter. Dr. Raj is a 16-year-old, socially awkward doc who joins the medical group to help Dr. Troy with surgeries. No premiere date has been set, but the show's next season is in production.Kalyan fans will also find him in several upcoming movies, including Fired Up and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. An extract from a true story taken from the Fictitious Journal of Adhir Kalyan:I walk down the aisle, raise my hand, and run my fingers along the products arranged meticulously on the shelves. One item, not in keeping with the host of products attempting to grab my attention, is slightly out of place, and as a result, grabs my attention. It is only when I slide it into its intended position that I notice the six numbers and two letters:BB: 05.23.07I cannot quite come to terms with what I have just seen. Giggling at the antics of the slap-happy contestants who “come on down” at what he calls “the happiest place on Earth,” Drew Carey looks like he’s having a blast, and looks right at home, on the spiffed-up set of The Price Is Right as he takes over as host today. There’s no fuss and no ceremony, and outside of the introduction telling us we’re at the Bob Barker Studio in Television City, and that one of the games is still called “Barker’s Bargain Bar,” and that Carey chooses to sign off with the traditional plea to have your pets spayed, there’s no actual homage to the former host as the new Price era begins.And yet, probably the greatest tribute to Bob Barker is that the show goes on, and goes on effortlessly with its funny-looking new ringleader, who appears to be genuinely tickled at the breathless excitement of the frantic folks who come to play the game. It took a year, but the CW (the network cobbled together from the ashes of the WB and UPN) is finally starting to look like a real network, albeit one aggressively and obsessively focused on the 18-34 youth market.
