Diana Ross says the remainder of her much-hyped 23-city Supremes tour has been canceled by the producers. "I promised our fans that I would be there for them... and I will find a way to reconnect with them as soon as possible," she said in a statement. The short-lived tour didn't sit well with some fans who were opposed to the exclusion of founding member Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong. read more

Question: I recently read in ...

Question: I recently read in TV Guide that the television show Now and Again is being canceled. Is this true and, if so, why? I don't know of anyone who didn't look forward to the next episode of this show. I think the reason everyone liked Now and Again was because it was "different." It seems like every other show on television is either some kind of police drama or hospital show. I know for a fact that TV Guide liked the show. If everyone likes the show and praises it, why do they cancel it? I will never understand this. I wish some executive could explain it to me. — Maggie Machinena

Televisionary: There's bad news and worse news, Maggie. Not only did CBS indeed ax Now and Again, but fans will never find out what happened after the season-ending cliffhanger. (At least there are no plans for them to find out as far as I know.)

And you're right. Everyone who liked Now and Again did so because it was different, which read more

Question: I thought Cybill ...

Question: I thought Cybill Shepherd was in The Mod Squad. If not, who was?

Televisionary: That was Peggy Lipton playing San Francisco-born runaway Julie Barnes in the teen cop series, which ran on ABC from the fall of 1968 to August of 1973. Shepherd, who first made her mark on the entertainment scene way back in 1971's The Last Picture Show, didn't star in a series until much later, in NBC's The Yellow Rose, which debuted in 1983.

I can sort of see how you'd mix them up in memory, which tends to blur faces a bit. Shepherd and Lipton don't look all that much alike in my opinion, but they're the same physical type. In addition, if you're anything like me (and God help you if you are), the actor or actress who's hit it big most recently tends to bleed into the recollection of older shows.

Shepherd, after all, was on top of the TV world when she starred alongside Bruce Willis in ABC's Moonlighting from 1985 to 1989, plus s read more

Question: I am looking for ...

Question: I am looking for the angel-wing outfits the girls in Vegas wore on UPN's The Strip. My husband has this wonderful fantasy to see me dressed like that. And I have got the body to fill it well. You are my last hope. Please help me. Thanks. — Cathleen

Televisionary: Heaven forbid! Well, on second thought if you're so eager to please your fella that you're willing to put it all on the line for the world to see (well, the people who read this column, anyway), then far be it from me to deny you.

Unfortunately, the best I can do is point you to the planned, a site that purportedly will feature clothing and other items from TV shows and movies when it launches. You can check out what they've got up now, but last time I visited the shopping links didn't work.

I didn't see anything related to The Strip there — and tend to doubt you ever will since the show was canceled — but they do have a request page, so maybe you can read more

Question: At the beginning of ...

Question: At the beginning of [last] season, Jennifer Love Hewitt began her new series Time of Your Life on Fox's Monday nights schedule. The show disappeared. I looked for it for several weeks and finally gave up, assuming it was canceled. Recently, I caught a few episodes, but now it's gone again. Has it been canceled or rescheduled? Will it be back next season? I very much enjoyed that show. — Nancy Botelho

Televisionary: Sorry, Nancy, but it's gone the way of Now and Again.

Fox had high hopes for Time of Your Life last fall, but it never found an audience. It gave the series another shot with its "Summer of Love" gimmick, but when the ratings were even worse executives cut their losses and yanked it off the schedule.
