Hot List 2011: The Funny Ladies of Comedy

Zooey Deschanel

With its worn-in leather sofa and duct-taped-together flat screen, the loft set of Fox's New Girl exudes the vibe of lazy afternoons and beer-fueled late nights. A few feet away, Zooey Deschanel is cutting loose during a photo shoot. There's some emphatic twirling in a retro-chic, peony-pink party dress and some even more emphatic lip-synching into a toy microphone to a David Bowie track — all while rocking a rhinestone tiara. read more

Castle

It's precisely the kind of chilling twist Richard Castle might concoct. On a Hollywood soundstage in early February, the mystery novel-penning protagonist of ABC's Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, is shadowing his muse, no-nonsense NYPD detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), as she tracks a person of interest to a storage freezer in Manhattan. Matt LeBlanc Makes His TV Comeback

Matt LeBlanc

Matt LeBlanc spent 12 years in Joey Tribbiani's shoes — first on the classic comedy Friends, then on its not-so-classic spin-off, Joey. But on January 9, the three-time Emmy nominee returns to TV in Showtime's Episodes as someone he's even more familiar with... Matt LeBlanc. Or at least a spoiled, morally bankrupt (and, ahem, very well-endowed) version of the actor, dreamed up for the biting Hollywood satire by cocreator (and former Friends producer) David Crane and his partner Jeffrey Klarik. LeBlanc, now 43 and father to 6-year-old Marina, sat down with TV Guide Magazine for a frank and funny chat about his new comedy, life away from the limelight and why he's opposed to a Friends reunion.

Returning Favorites: Modern Love

Modern Family

ABC's Modern Family might look a bit different when the clan returns tonight at 9/8c. "Lily gained about 700 pounds," says Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Mitchell, one of the tot's adoptive pops. "OK, I'm exaggerating. But it's amazing how much she's grown in such a short amount of time."
