Spooky films Saw 3D and Paranormal Activity 2 took the top spots at the box office over Halloween weekend.
The premiere of the Saw franchise's seventh installment took in $22.5 million, Box Office Mojo reports, while the Paranormal sequel finished second, bringing in $16.5 million in its second weekend. Its two-week take totals $66.6 million.

On this week's episode, the Lockwoods throw a masquerade ball and the Salvatore brothers do their best to prevent Katherine from wrecking it.
The episode begins with Caroline telling the boys that she saw Katherine and was told to pass along a message: Deliver the moonstone at the masquerade party. "Can't we just give her the moonstone so she'll leave?" Caroline asks the Salvatore brothers. "Katherine's not getting d---," Damon responds. (Who knew CW could use that word?)
