American Idol took over the Nokia Theater L.A. Live on Tuesday night as finalists Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez hit the stage for the last time in front of 7,000 fans. Throughout the hour, the audience was overwhelmingly in favor of acoustic rocker Phillips, and he received the loudest cheers for his last song, "Home." The applause was so deafening it even drowned out comments from the judges and host Ryan Seacrest. And while the judges gave Sanchez glowing reviews for her first two performances, they were extremely critical of her last song, "Change Nothing."
After a season of standout performances, the race to crown this year's American Idol winner is tighter than ever. Luckily for the singers and viewers, mentor Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records, guides the contestants in song choice and arrangement. After months of speculation, Fox officially announced that pop superstar Britney Spears and teen sensation Demi Lovato will join The X Factor's judging panel when Season 2 premieres this fall. TV Guide Magazine spoke with Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Lovato just hours after they made their first appearance at Monday's Fox Upfront in New York City.

Grasping a pink hydrangea and sporting a blue peacock feather in her hair, American Idol's latest eliminated contestant was all smiles as she greeted reporters backstage. But there was disappointment in 28-year-old Elise Testone's voice as she revealed her true feelings about the advice she received from the show's judges."I'd like to say that they were [helpful], but I don't really feel that way," Testone admitted.

Last night, the American Idol studio audience was left speechless when host Ryan Seacrest announced that 20-year-old Colton Dixon had been eliminated.
The Voice has a few tricks up its sleeve in preparation for this week's live shows. Coach Cee Lo Green and his six remaining team members visited Hollywood's historic Magic Castle for a day of mentoring and rehearsal with world-famous magicians Penn and Teller. The contestants even learned a few industry secrets from the duo to enhance their upcoming live performances. Abracadabra!
