There's not a more popular — or badder — badass in soaps than The Young and the Restless' Victor Newman. But even he's pushing it with the fans. The megalomaniacal patriarch — played by Emmy winner Eric Braeden — earned considerable viewer backlash last month when he threw his ex-wife, Diane (Maura West), from the back of an ambulance and left her bruised and bloodied on the road. (Sure, Di's a lying, conniving skank who was trying to destroy Victor's life, but still!) This week, Victor pays a ...
Patrick Muldoon and Christie Clark
Days of Our Lives chief Ken Corday promised he'd be bringing romance back to the NBC soap — and he's bringing sexy back, too! An NBC rep tells TV Guide Magazine that Patrick Muldoon (the original Austin Reed) and Christie Clark (Carrie Brady) will return to the show in late September. They start shooting next week...
What's Julie Chen doing inside the Big Brother house? To help kick off the 13th season of the CBS reality hit (premiering Thursday at 9/8c) the one and only Chenbot spent four hours playing the game with her chatty cohorts from The Talk before the real contestants showed up. Footage of that will air on The Talk Thursday. Chen gave TV Guide Magazine the scoop.
TV Guide Magazine: You've hosted Big Brother since 2000 but we always see you outside the house playing puppet-master. How'd it feel to be a contestant?
Chen: I was so excited! After all these years of hosting, I finally got to play the game and I was so ready! The day we got our official instruction sheet with all the ground rules I felt like the houseguests do when they're ...
Big Brother 13
Allison Grodner is one tough interview. The big cheese at CBS's Big Brother franchise is maddeningly fond of peppering her answers with evasive wisecracks and un-informational silences, along with the occasional, oh-so-expected catchphrase "Expect the unexpected." But as Thursday's premiere of Big Brother 13 approaches, there's no hiding the exec producer's enthusiasm for this year's houseguests.
"I think this is our most interesting and diverse mix of people yet. We have some very big ...
Hunter Tylo, Colleen Bell and Ronn Moss
The Bold and the Beautiful has finally been forced to call in the police — the fashion police! The 24-year-old CBS sudser, set against the world of haute couture, just won its third best soap Emmy in a row but, let's face it, the show has never been a mover and shaker when it comes to style. In fact, it's always seemed a bit behind the times. That's all changing thanks to Colleen Bell. The L.A. style maven and philanthropist — wed to B&B exec producer Brad Bell — holds the title of Director of Special Projects and is now in charge of giving the soap a major makeover.
Don Diamont, Joanna Johnson, Ronn Moss
She's back on The Bold and the Beautiful and not because she needs a paycheck! Longtime fan fave Joanna Johnson — now a writer and co-executive producer of ABC Family's Make It or Break It — returns to the CBS soap July 22 for a four-episode stint as Karen Spencer. The plot finds Katie (Heather Tom) renewing her vows with Karen's brother Bill (Don Diamont) — a seemingly happy but complicated situation considering Bill's wandering eye. TV Guide Magazine had a chat with Johnson, who was also the creator and exec producer of the Kelly Ripa-Faith Ford sitcom Hope & Faith. Does she miss acting? Ha! Don't bet on it.
Days of Our Lives
The Independence Day connection isn't quite clear here but, heck, so what? This sounds like a hoot! Bad rain will hit Salem on the July 4 episode of NBC's Days of Our Lives, forcing the young ones — Gabi, Chad, Abigail, Kinsey and Melanie — to stay indoors and watch this year's Oscar DVDs at the Brady Pub. While trying to decide which flicks to choose, Melanie imagines herself and Bo in True Grit, while Chad fantasizes himself in The Social Network and Gabi goes for The King's Speech. Kinsey votes for The Fighter with Brady as Mark Wahlberg's character and the gals — from Nicole and Melanie to sassy Nurse Maxine — as the mouthy, trashtastic Eklund sisters. And look for Emmy winner Judi Evans (Adrienne) in the badass mom role that won an Oscar for Melissa Leo. The Days take-off we most can't wait to see? That'd be Black Swan, with the great Kristian Alfonso (Hope) in all her psychotic Natalie Portman glory.
Here's another great cancellation casting surprise! A rep for ABC's One Life to Live tells TV Guide Magazine that the wonderful Erin Torpey, who played Jessica Buchanan from 1990 to 2003, will return to the axed soap for one last ...
Who doesn't love them some Jessica Collins? The former daytime suds queen turned prime time stalwart will hit The Young and the Restless July 27 in the contract role of Avery Clark. A rep for the top-rated CBS soap tells TV Guide Magazine that Avery is a high-powered attorney — is there any other kind? — who will represent the accused murderess Sharon Newman. Who hires Avery? The Mustache! (And we know how much he likes hot blondes!)...
