Dancing's Maks: I'm Banking on Brandy's Stage Presence

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone!

Hope you all enjoyed the premiere! What'd you think?

I thought our dance was great. It felt great. I think we carried out our plan: We came out strong, but are not the front-runner. I told Brandy that I don't want the pressure of having to be the best right away. We made our statement and we can continue ...

Dancing's Maks: Brandy and I Are Ready to Go

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a great week! Well, we're almost there!

I cannot wait for Monday. I'm just looking forward to getting the season started again. The off season flew by and this is the calm from the storm. But I say we might as well just get right back into the middle of the storm! It's a lot of work, but I'm looking forward to the routine of things, the nervousness, the stress and the good times, of course.

Brandy is freaking out and excited at the same time. I think she's nervous, but who wouldn't be? But it's a good nervous. It's a "I can't wait!" not a "What have I signed myself up for?!" I'm very happy with where we are. We are ready to go! I feel secure in Brandy in the fact that she's not going to fall apart when ...

Dancing's Maks Sticking with Pre-Season Game Plan

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone,

How are you? Hope you had a great week!

Brandy and I are still hard at work on our dances. I feel like a broken record, but everything is going great. I have my game plan that I'm going to stick with. I've done this for so long now that I know that these three weeks of rehearsals can go one or two ways. If the person is not very good at picking up choreography, they need as much time as they can get. If they are more comfortable with dancing, moving their bodies and interpreting music, which is what dance is, they have an easier time obviously. If that person does have an easier time, what do you do with three weeks? We are just given our first two dances — Viennese waltz and the jive (not the cha-cha anymore!) — and I personally think it's pointless introduce the celebrities to more than that in the first three weeks.

In Brandy's case, she's doing very well. We just finished our Viennese waltz. It's great and good enough ...

Dancing's Maks: Brandy Is "Very Capable of Winning"

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone!

I'm back! I hope you all had a great summer. I can't believe it's time for another season already.

As you may already know, I'm paired with Brandy this season. I'm very happy to have been partnered with her. I think there's a lot of pressure on use to do well because she's an entertainer, but just like last season, we're taking it one week at a time.

So far, we've just done one rehearsal. Our first dance is the Viennese waltz and our second is going ...

Dancing's Maks: We Are All Winners

Dancing with the Stars - Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a great week! First, I want to thank all of you who have supported us this season. We couldn't have gone this far without you and I hope you know Erin and I really appreciate it.

Nicole won, but I think all three finalists were winners in their own ways. It almost seemed like we had a couple different shows within one. Nicole had something to prove. With how much she had to prove, I think coming in second would've been devastating. If I was her fan, I would probably be devastated too. She was amazing the whole season. Evan won because anybody who knows Evan personally would be like, "Aww." He did it for the right reasons. Anybody who has won an Olympic gold medal has invested every second of their lives leading up to that point. Evan did the show with the same ...

Dancing's Maks: "We're Going to Go All Out" in the Final

Dancing with the Stars - Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a great week!

Well, we made it! Thank you to all of you for your votes and support. It's like a cross between a dream and a nightmare right now. Everything's crazy. On Tuesday, you're relaxed and then you literally have one night to rest, then Wednesday, you have to start over. It's been like that for the past nine weeks, but this is the last time. And the judges were like, "You have four dances." It's like, "OK, then!" At this point, it really doesn't matter. Your body's numb. My mind is clicking and everything else is robotic. But Erin and I are so excited and we're going to go all out.

Honestly, we were worried Tuesday. The finals were on the line and you just don't know what's going to happen. Everyone stepped it up Monday, and Chad has improved ...

Dancing's Maks: We're Definitely a Dark Horse

Dancing with the Stars - Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a great week!

We're in the semis! And we weren't in the bottom two! I can't believe the season is almost over, but I am happy about this season regardless of how it ends. It's kind of been two seasons in one. In the beginning, Erin was trying to figure this out and looked awkward and uncomfortable, but now she's coming into her own and we're coming out with very memorable performances. We got our first 10 from Len. Honestly, I thought Carrie Ann was going to give us one too, based on what she said to us, but, you know, that's how it goes. Everyone's talking to me about Erin's jump off the stage ...

Dancing's Maks: Elisabeth Hasselbeck's Comments Were "Unnecessary and Insensitive"

Dancing with the Stars - Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a great week!

First, I want to address Elisabeth Hasselbeck's comments about Erin. I've gotten lots of comments on Twitter about it. They were just unnecessary and insensitive, simple as that. I'm the first person to say that everybody has the right to an opinion. I'm clearly one of the most opinionated people, but it's one thing to criticize to somebody's job and it's another to make ...

Dancing's Maks: I'm Going to Keep Stripping

Dancing with the Stars - Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone!

How are you? Hope you had a great week!

I've been in New York the past few days, which has been nice. Right after the results show, we went to rehearsals for our team cha-cha. Then we flew out that night to New York because Erin has some stuff to do here. It's actually kind of cool because it's a change of scenery. We were traveling all over the place before the show started, but we've only been in L.A. since the show started. On the way here, Erin was like, "That was the longest I've gone without flying in about six years." I'm staying at home. Erin saw my studios and she met Sleep! We have a big showcase dinner Friday evening in New Jersey and a lot of my students are going to be there. It's kind of like their version of Monday night's Dancing with the Stars where you basically show up and dance and bring your friends and family. Erin and I are going to go over and have people look at our quickstep and see what they think. If they like it, Len will have to like it!

So our samba: First, I want to say that Erin was really ...

Dancing's Maks: Judges Aren't Constructive; Kate Resisted Tony

Dancing with the Stars - Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a great week! Did you like our Pulp Fiction jive?

I thought Erin did an amazing job with it. I said last week we're trying to make our live performance as great as the one we have in dress rehearsal, and I think we did that this week. I think she's improved every week and this was her best performance yet, and people seemed to like it too. But there was something the judges misunderstood and didn't like — and I'm still not sure what that is.

Our audience is educated enough to know that Kate was not a great dancer and that Evan and Nicole are much better. We don't need judges to tell us that; what we need judges for is to be constructive. We don't want them to be confusing ...
