Survivor's Sash: I Thought the Jury Would Have More Respect For the Game

Survivor

Matthew Lenahan's nickname on Survivor: Nicaragua was "Sash," but he might as well have been called The Comeback Kid. He started out with a strong social game and an equally manipulative ally in Brenda Lowe. But after Brenda was blindsided, and after allies NaOnka Mixon and Kelly Shinn quit the game, Sash seemed destined to fail. Thanks to several key strategic moves, however, Sash made it to the final three. The only problem? The jurors favored emotional connections over smart plays and he received a stunning zero votes for the million dollars. The 30-year-old real estate broker from New York, N.Y. spoke with TVGuide.com about why he thought he could win, how Fabio Birza changed the game and his thoughts on Jane Bright's tribal council remarks... read more

"Sincerity" Helps The Sing-Off's Winning Group Rise Above the Rest

Nick Lachey

Before stepping onto The Sing-Off stage, Committed had never ventured far from their usual terrain of gospel and inspirational music. While that would have been a disadvantage going into a pop-friendly competition, these Alabama boys won over the judges and viewers.

"I believe it was our sincerity," Committed member Therry Thomas tells TVGuide.com. "Not saying the other groups aren't sincere, but I think it's just our background brings us to a whole other world, like a whole other place and sometimes we don't even imagine where we're going. It's magical."

Survivor Winner Fabio: Acting Dumb "Was the Only Game I Could Play"

Jud "Fabio" Birza

The smartest thing Jud "Fabio" Birza ever did was play dumb. It made for great TV and a hilarious nickname. And more importantly, it allowed him to remain underestimated by everyone on Survivor: Nicaragua. Sitting next to Chase and Sash, two players known for breaking multiple alliances, Fabio killed them with kindness. The 21-year-old student from Venice, Calif., talked with TVGuide.com about his secret to success, what he hopes to do with the money and whether he plans to hang on to his new nickname.
