GAC's before-they-were-famous series Day Jobs (Wednesdays, 10/9c) regularly tasks country stars with working their old 9-to-5s, but on occasion, the series allows artists to get a taste of their other dream gigs. For Kellie Pickler, that means caring for animals — and awfully large ones at that. In tonight's new episode, the American Idol alum, who recently released the throwback-country album 100 Proof, learns how to be a caregiver for elephants. We asked...
While it may be tempting to attribute the success of Chris Young to his winning Nashville Star in 2006, his journey to country music's penthouse — he's on a red-hot streak of five consecutive No. 1 singles — was far from an overnight trip.
Whether they admit it or not, almost everyone has watched the oddly addictive ad for the Magic Bullet — if not actually ordered one. The commercial for that extraordinary slicer-and-dicer is among those counted down in 25 Most Memorable Infomercials Ever, a TV Guide Network special as quirkily entertaining as the ads it spotlights. Host John O'Hurley — who's performing in "Chicago" on Broadway while preparing for his annual gig as emcee of Thanksgiving's National Dog Show — opened up his cupboards to give us a peek at the products he may or may not have purchased late one night.
If last night's Country Music Association Awards are the esteemed Oscars of the genre, then Fox's fledgling American Country Awards, set for Dec. 5, are vying to be the unpredictable Golden Globes. Once again hosted by Trace Adkins, the ACAs put the winners ...
The Band Perry
At last year's CMA Awards, the Band Perry were so fresh on the scene that they weren't even allotted a full-song performance slot. Oh, what a difference a year makes. By the time last night's glitzy blowout concluded in Nashville, the sibling vocal trio — Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry — walked away winners ...
She may be royalty, but Queen Latifah doesn't take herself too seriously. When the executive producer of VH1's new dramedy Single Ladies — about three women navigating relationships in the ATL — decided to guest star on her own series, she chose to send up her image in the tabloids. Tonight, Latifah plays newscaster Sharon Love, who inadvertently reveals she slept with Val (Stacey Dash) while they were roommates in college.
"One drunken night something happened between them," Latifah says with a laugh. "And not to stir the rumor-mill pot, but I have no problem ...
When A&E's cooperating cops-and-cons series Breakout Kings premiered in early March, it did so without costar Serinda Swan, whose incarcerated single-mom character Erica Reed was introduced in the second episode. Coincidentally, her debut re-airs this Sunday at 10/9c, giving viewers a chance to get reacquainted with the scene-stealing Swan — one of Kings' jewels — before Monday night's season finale (10/9c). TV Guide Magazine caught up with the admitted tomboy actress, who first turned heads as super-powered magician Zatanna on Smallville.
Say it isn't so. After seven seasons of ruling the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch with an iron fist — well, more like an aluminum fist — misfiring manager Michael Scott walks out of his beloved office for the last time.
The trick, admits executive producer Paul Lieberstein, who also stars as Toby, was balancing the sentimental nature of Steve Carell's final episode with the requisite humor. "We try to play it pretty real, pretty simple," he says. "But it's not easy for a guy like Michael, who has such a low grasp on reality, to have a normal goodbye. That's where a lot of the comedy comes from."
With a domineering mother and his police-chief big brother looking over his shoulder, Jeremy Davies' limping, sneering Dickie may be the most put-upon of the backwoods Bennett clan on this season of Justified. But he's also the most engaging...
Naomi and Wynonna Judd
While the Judds' farewell tour is the impetus for this new six-part reality series about the country duo, music is only a small part of The Judds. The underlying theme is the often strained relationship between mom Naomi and daughter Wynonna.
