Carmen Electra is the celebrity guest judge tonight, but we didn't realize she had dance experience beyond the Pussycat Dolls. Apparently, she trained in ballet and modern dance. Choreographer (and So You Think You Can Dance alum) Travis Wall also joined the judges' panel tonight. Although I'm happy to hear his insights, I'm bummed he won't be choreographing any routines.
Last week we lost Miranda and Robert after their uneven Broadway performance, and it remains to be seen tonight who will surprise and who will fall short. Let's get down to it:
Hillary Scott and Chris Tyrell
Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott celebrated the nation's independence by declaring her co-dependence.
The "Need You Now" singer became engaged to her drummer boyfriend, Chris Tyrell, over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, People reports.
Michael Ealy, Warren Kole
USA is doubling down on its winning formula: crime-solving with a side of bromance.
The network has picked up the CBS Television Studios cop drama Common Law, ordering 11 episodes, Variety reports. The drama stars Michael Ealy and Warren Kole as a pair of cops who have a big problem ... each other. Their captain (Jack McGee) sends them into couples therapy in an effort to return the duo to their professional glory days despite their hatred for one another.
Mark Ballas' former publicist claims the Dancing with the Stars pro is trying to dance away without paying.
Ace PR has summoned Ballas to Los Angeles County Small Claims Court to get the money he allegedly owes. He cut ties with the company in September, TMZ reports.
The Top 16 dancers must move on after losing four of their own in last week's traumatic elimination show.
To help them overcome their loss is guest judge Kristin Chenoweth, of Broadway and Glee fame. We have faith in her. She always makes things better. Oh, and apparently her first country album is dropping on Sept. 13. Wait, Lil C is also here! It's chaos! Four judges! The show is also switching it up with two group numbers as well. Let's get down to it:
After last week's reprieve, the Top 20 once again get to compete, which is good. But four of them will get cut tomorrow, which is bad. They've had one more week to get closer to each other, so when a fifth of the group is cut, that's going to be pretty traumatic. But hey, that's tomorrow. Tonight, we dance!
Debbie Reynolds is our guest judge this week and wearing much lavender. Anyone else a fan of Singin' in the Rain and Tammy and the Bachelor? But I digress. Before she became the mother of Princess Leia, Reynolds was a bona fide movie star who was the consummate triple threat — acting, singing and yes, dancing. The lady knows hoofing, so it's appropriate she's judging. I'm digging the guest judges this season so far. I think it shines a light on people we didn't know danced or reminds us of who we may have forgotten. Plus, it's Debbie Reynolds!
