Lost Finale Mysteries Revealed!

"Henry Gale" and Lost's other Others: friends or foes?

ABC's Lost wouldn't be our favorite twisty-mystery series if the season-ender didn't bring up more questions than it answered. Here's our take on the most mind-bending moments from this year's finale.

The Others
They say they're "the good guys" — and we agree. We think "Henry Gale" and Co. are one-time Dharma Initiative members gone rogue. Now they are committed to stopping the Initiative's crazy testing and they need strong-willed Jack, Kate and Sawyer to help them.

The Dharma Initiative
So the Initiative — with all its testing in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology and electromagnetism — is evil? Hell, yeah. Polar bears in the tropics, a phoenix rising and human guinea pigs — this can't be good.

Lost's Hidden Secrets Revealed!

Kate's last flashback had an arresting moment: Sayid on TV!

It's not hard to find links between the castaways on ABC's Lost (Wednesdays at 9 pm/ET). Jack's dad once shared a drink with Sawyer. And the box company Locke worked for? Hurley owned it. The current season is raising the stakes, with plenty of blink-and-you'll-miss-them clues that reveal other ways the Losties' paths have crossed. "There is a design," says Lost cocreator Damon Lindelof. Here's proof. (Photographic evidence appears on page 16 of the Dec. 19 "My Big Year" issue of TV Guide.)

Attack of the TV Show Clones

This fall you'll find shows full of mysterious monsters, quaint suburban neighborhoods brimming with deadly secrets and, yep, even a famous CEO looking for an apprentice. Sound familiar? Here's a roundup of new series "inspired" by recent hits.
Singer Amy Grant travels across the country making people's dreams come true in NBC's Three Wishes, while on ABC's The Miracle Workers, a top-notch team of doctors uses cutting-edge medical technology to help seriously ill patients. Somewhere in America, Extreme Makeover's Ty Pennington is already weeping.

Martha Stewart looks to young entrepreneurs — with home-decorating experience, of course — to boost her business in NBC's The Apprentice: Martha Stewart. With all due respect to Donald Trump, this offering from the domestic diva could feature the best boardroom ever.

Decoding Lost's Mystery Numbers

Lost fans have been madly hypothesizing about the numbers from the March 2 episode. Some are even trying their luck with them in the lottery!

The doomed digits — 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 — came from Hurley's mental-ward pal Leonard, who overheard them while stationed at a naval listening post in the South Pacific.

It turns out the Frenchwoman, Danielle Rousseau, and her team picked up that same transmission and were shipwrecked on the island while trying to investigate it. And the sequence also matches the numerals etched into the mysterious metal hatch that Locke and Boone stumbled upon earlier this season.

Internet theories suggest the numbers can be decoded to reveal a specific date and time, GPS coordinates or even passages from the Bible.

TV Kids Lost in Hell

Themes from Rosemary's Baby, the 1968 thriller about a woman who's unwittingly carrying the devil's child, keep popping up on TV.

We could practically come up with 666 examples of this diabolical phenomenon, but here's just a few. Why not make like Mia Farrow and mix up a tannis-root milkshake whilst you compare and contrast them on your TiVo?

Fox's Point Pleasant is about Christina (Elizabeth Harnois), a cherubic blond teen who actually is the demon's seed. The baby Claire (Emilie de Ravin) is carrying on ABC's Lost might be the spawn of Satan. And NBC's upcoming drama Revelations features a nun who finds destruction when she investigates a virgin-born child. What gives?

Lost's Band Plays On

For a band that doesn't really exist, Drive Shaft sure is getting a lot of exposure.

The fictional rock group of Lost castaway Charlie (played by Dominic Monaghan) was featured in a flashback episode in the fall, and the band's single "You All Everybody" was recently heard blasting from Sydney's stereo on Alias, another ABC Wednesday-night show.

There's a music video at www.abc.com, and even a faux fan website, www.driveshaftband.com, complete with bios, photos, a discography and dedications to its missing bassist. "We've been talking about putting out an official album," says Lost executive producer Bryan Burk.

Groupies can catch the band again in Lost's Charlie-centric installment next Wednesday at 8 pm/ET. "As long as Lost is alive, so is Drive Shaft," Burk promises. Rock on.

Who is Lost's Ethan Rom?

That question has Lost fans feeling a bit lost. We know that the creepy character, played by Tom Cruise's real-life cousin William Mapother, wasn't on the downed plane's original manifest. And we know that he wants Claire's unborn baby. But why? Mapother is sworn to secrecy. All the show's producers will tell us is that his name, Ethan Rom, is an anagram for "Other Man." Great, more mysteries! So until the show returns Jan. 5 on ABC, here are the Top Four theories on just who the slimy fellow might be.

1. Ethan is the devil.
If you subscribe to the "they are in purgatory" theory, then he is coming to claim the already dead child's soul.

2. Ethan is an evil alien shape-shifter.
First, he took the form of the raging polar bear. Now he's human and, for some strange reason, he must destroy the baby and keep anything good from prospering on the island.

3. Ethan is Alex, Danielle Rousseau's lost son.
