Roush on Bones, NCIS and Prison Break
Question: Is it true that
Bones will be moving to Friday nights? Now that there's proof it can take the 18-to-49 audience away from
NCIS, Fox is going to move it to Friday. Does that make any sense at all? It also continues to perform better than
Prison Break, but
Bones gets the move to the death slot. Well, between the writers' strike and Fox, I guess my days of watching television are numbered. Time to get my library card out and catch up on my reading.

Matt Roush: As I noted in my recent
Dispatch trying to make sense of Fox's convoluted midseason strike-contingency lineup,
Bones is in fact scheduled to move to Fridays in the new year, as has long been threatened in past midseasons. I'm told by Fox these will be repeats, and this is a strike-era schedule we're talking about here, after all, so the situation isn't as dire as it might otherwise be. But realistically speaking,
Bones was never going to stay on Tuesdays, regardless of the strike. It has always been unseated by
American Idol, and this year is no exception. I agree it would be more satisfying if Fox paired
Bones with the new
Terminator series on Mondays rather than the ridiculous
Prison Break, but I'm sure Fox would play the stability card in explaining why a show that has always aired on Mondays would stay on Mondays, especially during a period when chaos will reign if the strike isn't resolved soon.
