Ty Lawson of the North Carolina Tar Heels

Basketball junkies, get ready to lose some sleep. ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon starts at midnight/ET Monday with Massachusetts at 2008 NCAA runner-up Memphis, and concludes at 9 pm/ET Tuesday with Kentucky at No. 1 North Carolina. "My friends, that is simply hoops hysteria at its best," ESPN's Dick Vitale says with typical hoop-erbole of the 23-hour slate, which includes a four-hour SportsCenter special at 6 am/ET Tuesday. "They can get a little smorgasbord, a taste of so many different teams." (See the full schedule here.)

Dickie V. will call the final game: the Wildcats vs. the Tar Heels, who return their Top 6 scorers, including National Player of the Year Tyler Hansbrough. "He plays every possession like it's his last," Vitale says. The 6-9 senior, hobbled by a preseason shin injury, sat out UNC's season-opening win over Penn on Saturday and it's unclear whether he'll suit up for the Kentucky game. In Hansbrough's absence Carolina can count on one of the premier backcourts in juniors Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington. "North Carolina is still going to be a dynamite team," Vitale says, "but obviously Tyler Hansbrough makes them the best in the country." —Karen Rosen
