Daniel Dhers Goes for Sweep of AST Dew Tour

Daniel Dhers
The AST Dew Tour comes to a close this weekend and BMX Park superstar Daniel Dhers has the gnarly moves and consistency to ride into history. If he wins the season-ending PlayStation Pro in Orlando, he'll become the first competitor to go five-for-five on the Tour, plus wrap up his third straight Dew Cup. NBC has coverage Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 18-19, 4 pm/ET).

"He's what they call 'dialed' — he rarely makes a mistake," says NBC's Kenan Harkin. The Venezuela-born Dhers, who lives at a BMX/skateboard training camp in Pennsylvania, has multiple 720 variations — two complete spins in the air — and doesn't let up in the 60-second run. "There's never a dull moment from start to finish," Harkin says.

Competitors in BMX, skateboard and freestyle motocross will be ramping up in the season's final Tour event, throwing tricks they're still perfecting for a share of the $1 million bonus purse. After all, Harkin says, "There's a lot of off time for these guys to heal." — Karen Rosen
