The X Factor to Allow Facebook Voting

Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell's The X Factor will allow Facebook voting, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The deal is currently being negotiated, but the plan is to reserve voting via Facebook for the final rounds of the singing competition show. Fans would be able to vote via their own Facebook pages or an X Factor application.

The X Factor to offer $5 million prize

Traditional phone voting would still be in place.

The Facebook voting roll-out would be part of a global partnership with the social networking site that would include all versions of X-Factor around the world. It would also immediately distinguish itself from Cowell's old stomping grounds, American Idol, which, despite executive producer Nigel Lythgoe's continued promises, has not yet introduced online voting.

The X Factor, which will offer an unprecedented $5 million grand prize, will debut on Fox this fall.
