Former X Factor Judge Cheryl Cole Sues for $2.3 Million

Cheryl Cole

Former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole filed a lawsuit against the production company behind the Fox reality singing competition, claiming they owe her at least $2.3 million after being unceremoniously let go during the first season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cole, who was abruptly let go from The X Factor less than three weeks into production and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger, claims she had a pay-or-play contract with Blue Orbit Productions, meaning when she was hired, she would be paid whether the company behind X Factor kept her on the series or not.

Which shows have been canceled? And which have been renewed?

The British pop star was reportedly paid $1.8 million as salary for the first season, but was not given the additional $2 million for the second season, along with money promised for her expenses, including a wardrobe allowance, salary for her stylist and a living allowance for her stay in Los Angeles. Cole's lawyer is also asking for interest on the money, legal fees and "further relief as the Court may deem just and appropriate."

Do you think Cole deserves the money?
